I thought the Braves were done bumming me out in 2024, but here we are.

I must be the only one who just doesn’t really care. It didn’t work out.
Freeman is in a good spot, Braves aren’t in a materially worse spot, that’s just baseball.
Happy for FF of course. Good things happening to decent human beings is always good.

I care because letting him walk made the team we were directly competing with for NL supremacy get significantly better, and we got worse. Think about it, that move involved the two teams who had made the NLCS the last two years. It also set the precedent that AA's Braves will let anyone who is nearing 30 go into the open market. He outsmarted himself by worrying about extending our playoff window by a couple of more years by getting a player slightly younger in Olson, but hurt our World Series window by replacing an MVP-level player in his prime with a lesser player – and that's not me shitting on Olson, who is a good player, it's just that Freddie is the best 1B in the game.
Kind of like with the Contreras for Murphy deal, it was a questionable move at the time even without the hindsight. With hindsight, it looks downright stupid now.
Freddie gave us every opportunity in the 2020 offseason to re-sign him and then we still could've had him in the open market in 2021 if we gave him the extra year. Hubris got in the way and now, like you said, Freddie is in a much better situation, but it's at our expense... that sucks.

This is all that needs to be said.

I think it's safe to say AA is going to go get a starter this offseason. Should be plenty of interesting options available. Does he go get someone like Nate Eovaldi? Maybe take a shot on big upside and give someone like Walker Buehler a one year deal?
Shane Beiber on a one-year prove it deal would also be right up AA's alley

It was over once we let him get into the open market. AA was an idiot for how he tried to kick the can down the road and not re-sign him before the 2021 season.
It didn't help that Liberty told him they were going to hold off on raising the payroll until they saw how the COVID recovery would play out. Most reputable guys who covered the team(Schultz chief amongst them) said that AA wes going to offer Freddie an extension until that happened and we all know the rest.

I think COVID plus lockout really screwed it up.

Freddie homered again
That's 4 world Series games in a row that he has homered.

Freddie homered again... again
He's got the series MVP on lock. We look like buffoons.

I get the sentiment, but what guarantees would've we had that Freddie would've produced the way he did?

He’s a hall of famer, and would have been fantastic for us just like he has them.

Same dude that had a .377 ops in the nlcs?

We kind of are though.
We aren't in a bad spot, but I don't know how anyone can debate that we should have signed Freddie and reallocated the resources from the Olson deal.

I'm about 99.9% sure I've seen you (and 100% sure I've seen other people) say that Liberty has nothing to do with the team. (they absolutely do, for the record, and they are why when this team has to be torn down its going to be very painful and take a long, long time).

Better than our collective .000 OPS in the NLDS and NLCS

Certain people up in their feelings ITT RN.
We can all cheer for Freddie the person w/o getting all bent out of shape about him leaving. What happened, happened. Nobody's mind is going to be changed this far down the road. Let's pull for Freddie and be happy for him.

When Freddie left, you called him soft and immature while saying he would never reach the same success that he did with the Braves.
