No team will win a World Series with him as their clubhouse leader.
He’s a detriment at this point because of injuries and an inability of being “that dude” when it matters.
That's a whole other discussion entirely. I'm not sure who is supposed to be a leader in the clubhouse, it's something that hasn't really shown itself since Freddie walked.
I'm just saying I know for a fact Acuna isn't the selfish player that you are portraying him as. I think it's a dangerous precedent to set if colored arm guards and dancing while scoring makes someone selfish.

It has nothing to do with how he dresses himself.
Freddie was an MVP and he led like an MVP. He showed up like an MVP in the playoffs - especially 2021. See what he’s done since leaving.
Ronald is an MVP. He celebrates but when the moment comes, he folds and doesn’t produce.
Being happy for his teammates, I get it. But he’s no Freddie and that’s why the franchise has been in the mud since Freddie left. Freddie led - Ronald celebrates.

You're forgetting the stigma on Freddie before 2020.
Ronnie not performing in the playoffs doesn't make him selfish. It's a mental block that remains to be seen if he can ever get past it. It took Freddie until he was 31 and in the league for 10 years.
Ronnie is a very good human being.

Freddie was part of a rebuild that was waiting on Ronald to be the centerpiece.
I don’t think Ronald is a bad human being. I just think he cant be someone at this stage that you build your franchise around. I say that as someone who has loved him being a Brave but Freddie was supposed to be passing the torch to him when he left and Ronald has done absolutely nothing with it in the post season.

Sure, but Freddie also struggled mightily in big spots in 2018, 2019 and the first two rounds of COVID playoffs before he finally figured it out in the NLCS.
I'm not arguing the point about Ronnie needing to step up in the bright lights. I'm just saying the "it's not about the team, it's about me" stigma that you said is way off when it comes to how he approaches the game.

That stigma will live because Freddie left, Ronald didn’t fill the void and the team has suffered because of it.
I’ll even say it’s not Ronald’s fault because he’s younger but Freddie got it at the point he left. I get the behind the scene bullshite with Freddie but truthfully the franchise should’ve stepped up, made the ridiculous offer and kept him. Had they done it, he would’ve stayed. Appreciate your service Matt Olson but when Freddie left, so did the heart of the team.
They’re cheap though and that’s why tomorrow will likely be the last ATL thread of the year.

The only behind the scene bullshite was that AA didn't want to give Freddie an extra year. There wasn't any philosophical falling out, AA just doesn't like spending big contracts on players that are in their mid-late 30's by the end of the contract.
And yeah Freddie was a leader, heart and soul, etc. but the real debilitating part of that whole ordeal was turning around a paying a kings ransom for Olson to save face. Olson is a very good 1B and hitter, but sacrificing the rest of Freddie's prime years and a lot of our best trade assets on our farm, really shortened our window.

Good GM to get mid/lower tier teams to bunch above their weight. Leaves a lot to be desired though when it comes to leading a contending team and sustaining that contention.
On a related note, Fried is looking really good right now against Boston.

Just think if the Braves were turning a profit and could’ve kept their players that won them a WS.

Astros are out - Cubs might be by morning too -

I'd rather have a day game. Go ahead and get the execution over with early.

I'm not wasting another day off on an early afternoon game

Who was the idiot that kept saying Fried was a career loser and that we were better off without him?
He has thrown two absolute gems in the playoffs since leaving us.

Welp, looks like we will be the only 1-0 team that doesn't close out the series today.

You're coming off as someone who likes to hear themselves talk. VADawg and Broski laid it out for you but you don't want to say this offense is lacking a lot for some reason and then respond by filibustering with a long post that says the same thing over and over again.
The Braves offense had ample opportunity to put the game away today and failed to do so by stranding a boatload of runners on base with less than 2 outs. It's a problem that has been plaguing this team for multiple years now,
This isn't 2023 anymore, the home run defense doesn't fly anymore, literally.
If you can read a thread involving the person I was talking to and conclude that I come off as someone who likes to hear himself talk, then you aren't paying attention. My point was clear. I at no point avoided saying what YOU want me to say about this offense. I "laid it out" for both of those posters what this offense is, and one of them wants to argue till he's blue in the face that I somehow defended the offense, when all I said is that those other teams were lucky to get good matchups, and that a lot of these teams have the same offensive problems.
Saying other teams have problems is not equal to saying "we're good, nothing to see here". But somehow, a couple of you seem to take it that way. Ok, friend. You want to pile on and argue with me that we're the only struggling offense who relies on home runs? How did the Phillies win the game yesterday?
Welcome to modern day offense. I don't like it any more than you do. But here we are, and I am somehow being controversial for pointing it out.

Just thinking that if Michael runs out his first double play, the Braves likely win. I’m sure he thought the first baseman would tag first initially, but that really was a killer. Hate it for him, as he a great Brave and plays the right way.
Lots of other what ifs. Today’s a new day.
