What an outstanding self-own. Thanks for making this easy
That you don't realize the immense hypocrisy of claiming "self-own" after you just posted that comment, is the greatest example you could have given to show exactly how little you know.
Runs are literally the ONLY stat that matters. There are lots of different philosophies to score runs, but runs, Broski, all count as runs. If we lead baseball in batting average and on base base, but had no slug and finished 10th in runs scored, are you going to argue that the team that scored less runs is better than the team that scored more?
What an insane thing to say. "This guy thinks runs determine good offense, hahaha".
Why do I bother with you?

Holy shite, this is dumb.
I bet you think a pitcher is as good as his W-L record too, huh?

A bazooka fight? Arguing with you is like arguing with a toddler. You are a self absorbed, know-nothing, blow hard. Only you think you ever "win" an argument.

A toddler that understands the nuance of advanced metrics.
Sorry that you don't.

No, Broski, because pitchers are as good as the amount of runs they keep off the board. Runs, are runs. You are arguing that scoring runs means less than any other stat, when every stat is just part of the process of how a team scores runs.
A pitcher isn't good because he gets a "win" when he gives up 5 runs a game. Hitters don't get "wins" attached to them for being on a team that relies on pitching. But runs are scored by driving in runs, and this team finished 8th in that category.
You are making yourself look worse by the minute.

While this a very good, need to take into account that Luzardo was throwing essentially a rehab start against us and Wheeler (if/when he starts tomorrow) will be on short rest for the first time in his career.
Still very formidable, but I would give the edge to a rested Skubal, Glasnow, Yammamoto

I understand metrics. Those help you understand variances over smaller and longer sample sizes. We're talking about an entire season. Advanced metrics don't say that this team is anything other than what their runs scored say they are.
They are weighed down by a low on base percentage, but held up by a high slugging percentage. It's not a good formula for playoff baseball, and I've said that for years. But we won game 1 by doing what we've done all year

Don't ask me your condescending questions. Either address what I say, or find something else to do.

Then you should understand why living and dying on the home run and only the home run is a recipe for a short postseason.
Again, there is no better statistic to qualify an offense than wOBA, and ours is bad... our offense is bad.
Sorry to tell you.

I'm going to be condescending on a message board when someone can't understand the initial point and then throws out personal attacks.
Sorry if that makes you mad, but I really don't care.
This offense is not good, and you can't seem to handle that, so you are taking your anger out on me, and frankly I find that funny and I will take this back-and-forth less and less seriously because of that.
I'm going to go watch Scubs now.
Have a good night, champ. Hopefully we can score some runs tomorrow.

Your entire problem is that you are so bent on being a contrarian, that you can almost never see the point that people are making. I never said this was a "good" offense. I just finished telling you that I have said for years that it's not a good playoff formula. But it's a formula that works enough when you aren't facing elite pitching all the time, which is WHY I said that those other teams were lucky with their matchups. We're not getting those kind of matchups. and don't figure to get them the rest of the way, either.
You totally let my point blow right over your head, and went straight into beating a strawman point that I never argued.

Hate to break it to ya big dawg, the contrarian point is thinking this offense is anything but below average at best.
Alright, now I'm done.

If tweet fails to load, click here. I’ll add this - Ronald needs to go.
It’s no coincidence that the one time this team found success in the post season is when he wasn’t in the lineup. He’s a hell of a player but we’ll never win big with him in the post season.

No, the entire problem, as I just pointed out in my previous post, is that YOU missed the initial point. You completely took everything out of context, just to be a contrarian. And my anger has everything to do with the fact that you do this every...single...time. You think these are personal attacks? I'm telling you what you are. I have held my tongue for years, trying not to say what I want to say, but it's insult after insult from you, and you never fail to miss the point.
There is nothing that I am "failing" to handle. I've been very honest about what this offense is. You can't deal with that. You are the very person who always tells us that the season is over during every bad stretch. You don't deal in reality, you deal in emotions. My irritation right now is not a spur of the moment, overreaction like you are notorious for. These are well founded frustrations with years of your poor attitude ruining this board.
Do me a favor. Ignore my posts from now on. I will be ignoring yours.
Good day.

IMO, this was more due to the presence of Joc than the absence of Acuna. Joc brought an attitude to this team that they haven't had since, and they miss it big time.

What does Ronald bring other than “it’s all about me, not the team.”
He’s not a leader. He’s a top player when healthy but he’s never healthy and when the playoffs come he’s been nonexistent minus that grand slam against the Dodgers.
He’s not a guy you build your franchise around because when it matters, he disappears.

You're coming off as someone who likes to hear themselves talk. VADawg and Broski laid it out for you but you don't want to say this offense is lacking a lot for some reason and then respond by filibustering with a long post that says the same thing over and over again.
The Braves offense had ample opportunity to put the game away today and failed to do so by stranding a boatload of runners on base with less than 2 outs. It's a problem that has been plaguing this team for multiple years now,
This isn't 2023 anymore, the home run defense doesn't fly anymore, literally.

I don't think that is fair to Ronald at all. He is a showboat for sure (which isn't a bad thing in this starched sport) but I don't think it's an "about me" thing. He is just easily excitable.
After he had a bad AB in that 7th inning, he was the first one out of the dugout to wave Murphy home and celebrate him scoring.
