Hope they fire Hyers. Team needs a whole new approach at the plate.

His contract in Georgia was more lucrative than his contract in California, regardless of the extra year.
Chelsea Freeman made the decision.

Oh? Some friends in the organization give you the down low Broski?
I mean, I always put it down to AA being an arrogant jackass, Freddie's agent being a douche, and Freddie not being hands on enough.
Always figured if AA had been smart enough to visit Freddie instead of swapping to trading for Olson then Freddie would still be a Brave right now.

He had offers on the table with higher AAVs than what he got from LA throughout the entire 2021 season
The Braves didn't give him a single contract offer during the 2021 season.
An offer came right before Spring Training that year and it was a 4-year offer i.e. not a serious offer. (Freddie was insulted by that and it's when he made that comment to the media that during the season wasn't the time to negotiate a deal... keep in mind he was coming off an MVP year)
The Braves then came after the World Series with a 5-year offer. He wanted a 6-year and AA never wanted to give him that.
Freddie and the Dodgers never spoke until the Olson trade happened.

Good news is it is all over tomorrow to the team that will (hopefully) shut down baseball for a majority of the season in 2027.
Bad news, after tomorrow the AA orphanage experience will continue on.
That’s who he is. That’s what we do.
Are we better than a lot of franchises? Yep.
Can we compete with non-orphanage teams?
Nope.
Thankfully we got the phillies. Got lucky on that one.

I don’t have a strong opinion
But i don’t really understand why “FF is full of shite and wanted to go to the massive, higher profile market flush with cash and setting up to win multiple rings but felt shitty about saying it outright” is never an option here

Is it me or does it seem like every single time Chris Sale pitches we can't score more than zero or one run?

While watching acuna and drake flail and olson miss a moment sucks
Today wasn’t some abnormally choked day at the plate considering what we were up against IMO
Hate to do the tip your hat routine but that’s kind of how i see it

If we lose tomorrow and get dominated by yet another CY Young caliber pitcher, then the noise may get loud enough AA/Liberty can’t ignore it. We simply don’t have the pitching to compete. And it’s been consistently ignored. We can moan all we want about the lineup and they’ve been horrible but everyone KNEW going into the season we were handicapped. Somehow we still won 94 games and a NLWCS.
And now we get front row seats to see what the stark difference is between a cutthroat, money-no-object 400 million dollar team and a 200 million one.

Feel like we've been saying this the last few seasons.
If it didn't happen after missing the playoffs last season, and if it didn't happen after we had one of the best records in baseball at this deadline, it won't happen because we lost in the NLDS.

Three runs given up isn’t awful.
Don’t get me wrong Sale struggled but the truth is since Joe Pederson/Jorge Soler/Freddie Freeman/Eddie Rosario that one year, this team has zero clutch players when it matters.
AA builds division winners and can’t consistently build WS contenders.

Acuna set the tone early with that stupid challenge. The drama queen got a pitch inside corner and felt they were throwing at his head. He’s done that all season

He jumped back too
that strike almost hit him!

True brother. I’m afraid this kind of sweet spot is EXACTLY what Liberty wants.
94 wins to keep overly-loyal fanbase happy enough to pack out Truist, enough payroll to keep it somewhat exciting, but never quite enough to make a dent in those spreadsheets.

3 runs is fine, yes but then again that’s your ace. The Braves have been counting on him all year long. We HAVE to win his starts. The one time he shows a kink in the armor, the whole team folds.

The issue is that we have to over rely on the pen because of our lack of starting pitching.
Take today for example, Sale was only able to go 5 innings, but because we've gone three straight games using only the bullpen, two of our better arms these playoffs (Kerr, Fuentes) weren't available.
It's hard to sustain that level in a 5-game series, now imagine if we somehow advance and have to piece that puzzle for a 7-game series.
This staff is just not built for consistent playoff success. Injuries are a part of it, but roster construction is a bigger part.

I feel like this has been the case since Ted was forced out.

Pitching has been fine in this series. The offense has scored 7 runs in 3 games. The offense scored 8 runs in 4 games in 2023. The offense scored 11 runs in 4 games in 2022.
This team's problem is the offense and has been for quite some time. It is hard to pinpoint exactly why they have completely fallen off a cliff since 2023. Injuries have been a little bit of it, although every team deals with injuries and I HATE using injuries as an excuse.
My pet theory is that the league deadening the balls after the 2023 season is what really messed this core up. AA long termed a bunch of mashers right as the league was trying to de-emphasize homers and create more action on the bases. In 2024, the Braves hit the ball almost as hard as they did in 2023 all season, but were not getting rewarded for it; a lot of balls that went out in 2023 died at the warning track in 2024. Hiring Tim Hyers and signing Jurickson Profar were two moves that signaled to me the team was going to try and diversify their offense, but the players they signed long term did not have the skill set to be a more contact and speed oriented team. It was a disaster in 2025. At some point this season, they went back to the "swing for the downs" approach and decided to live with the results. I'm not sure how to solve this issue and I'm not sure AA does either.
We don't need a full blown rebuild, but we do need a major shake up to this core. It seems stale and some new blood is badly needed.
