BUT JHEY DOESNT HIT 73 HR A YEAR HE'S A SCRUB

I ripped Atlanta pretty good for that deal in that thread. At the time, it seemed (to me) like they weren't willing to pony up to be competitive. That trade had a very Marlins feel to it.
Eventually, they will have to open the wallet but they've done a great job stashing away a lot of long term potential. Remains to be seen how it all pans out.

There is a huge difference between the Braves and Marlins. The Marlins succeed then blew up cause the won one. The Braves recognized that it was just not working and instead of getting 2 comp picks for upton and heyward, decided to maximize their value. The Braves are rebuilding the correct way. Scary as this may seem, our farm will be much better one year from today. The future is bright. This isn't a 20 year pirates rebuild.

I will likely cry if he goes to Washington.

You're so much smarter than the GMs of St. Louis, Chicago, and Washington.
I, for one, feel honored that you grace us with your presence here sir.

You mean those teams that are only good because they sucked for so long and built up their farm?
No, I never pretend to be smarter than any GM, but I don't see why having the opinion that JHey isn't worth a $200 million contract is such heresy by some Braves fans.

Forget Washington: you do realize who the current GM of the Cubs is right?

Yes, and while I do believe he's a great GM, has he ever really had to work under budget constraints? There are reasons none of the mid market teams are in on Heyward. It's because they know it's a waste of money. If I had a billion dollars to spend, I'd take the chance, too. If he doesn't pan out, I'd just buy the next overrated free agent that comes along.

Wow...no other possible explanations, only that it's a 'waste of money."
Also, and this is just to kind of poke at you, Hoyer is the GM, Theo is president of baseball operations.

Yes...every year until this year with the cubs. You might remember such awesome sign and flip guys like scott feldman that he traded for jake arrieta. Point being, his talent evaluation, is pretty good.

What has Jed Hoyer ever done?

He traded anthony rizzo to the cubs...so maybe he is an idiot.

I'm sure there are plenty of teams that would want to get into the picture, and many of them may have $20 million to spend, i.e. the Braves. But 90% of the teams in MLB don't think it's worth it.
There are only 4-5 teams even in the running per most reports. If he was really a $20 million/year player, I'd assume more teams would be calling.

Well I assumed he was talking about Epstein. Not sure why he would bring up the Cubs if he was talking about Hoyer.

You polled them?
Just asking, but you do understand that there are teams out there that may feel hes worth it but they've got too much money tied up in other players, or more pressing needs than an OF, right?
Further more 90% of mlb teams is 27 teams. But there are 4 teams (LAA, Cubs, Nats, Cards) in on heyward.

Again, the backlash of having the opinion that JHey isn't ungodly is pretty astounding.
If he gets the max contract that is being discussed, where would that rank him in terms of position players? I don't want to do the research but I'd assume top 3 or so. If you think he's a top 3 position player, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Bastard
And all are big market high payroll teams that can afford the risk. And that's exactly what he is, a risk.
