We save probably ~3.5m ('16). Shelby is expected to earn around 5m in arb

Braves traded 1 year of Heyward for 1 year of Shelby Miller, 6 yrs of Tyrell Jenkins/Aaron Blair/#1 overall pick Swanson, 5 yrs of Inciarte.

In the last year, we've acquired the d'backs '13, '14, and '15 1st round picks. Including their #1 overall from '15

That's a great piece. These guys clearly know what they want to do, but this long term plan is relying on a whole lot of young prospects to pan out. As easy as it may be to get excited about these trades, the thought that always crosses my mind is that having a top 5 farm system doesn't mean anything until they prove it at the big league level.

I'm slowly coming around on this, but I'm still sort of skeptical on whether it will actually work like they want it to.

Shelby's WAR last year was 3.6. Inciarte's alone was 5.3. WAR isn't the end all but you see where the excitement comes from. Then sprinkle in the prospects and you've got an incredible haul
