The golf course is unbelievably spread out, so it’s hard to make a stadium/cathedral environment as each hole is a standalone thing.
Again I’ll argue that this course selection was a horrible decision. PGA of America thought, “Let’s get the Euros in New York and watch them melt”
Then they ignored the course setup, and catered to Wall Street investors and their douchey offspring.

Winged Foot is better set up for a Ryder Cup. Smaller more intimate course where you can hear roars everywhere.

The camera picked up some guys just being complete dickheads during Rory's pre-shot routine

I’ll never blame a man for responding to other grown men yelling stuff about his wife in front of his wife. At that point it isn’t about “being better”. frick that.
Go listen to the no laying up guys. They said it got completely out of control with the crowd just yelling personal stuff straight to Rory’s wife

I mean…rory was cheating on his wife with a reporter.
Truth hurts.
Unless they were calling his wife a whore or something, thats fricked up.

I mean Rory just should not have his wife there
you gotta know what you are setting her up for

Every single wife is there….
They also apparently threw a drink on his wife

Not Xander’s…
Rory could have left her home and said she had covid

Again, all of that is unacceptable and those people should've been kicked out immediately. That doesn't excuse poor behavior in response.

I simply don’t view telling someone to frick off who first dog cussed you as poor behavior
Rory kicked Americas arse and some fans melted. When they melted and showed their arse they now want to whine he responded to ease the pain of him kicking Americas arse. It’s so weak.
Just own your arse whipping and move on

It’s hard to follow matches out there so we tried to hop around then let them come through. Most of what I heard was just a Rorrrrry…Rorrry chant. They did boo the European players every time they walked up. Some people tried to yell funny stuff, but I didn’t hear anyone straight swearing at players. There was a noticeable absence of Marshalls compared to other tournaments. Also, NLU’s Neal is a huge Rory homer so I’d take his hearsay comments with a grain of salt.

Bro
This didn’t even make him that mad but it’s a straight frick you as he is mining up a putt
I don’t think we need to pretend the crowd wasn’t saying ridiculous stuff. It’s everywhere from multiple people that were out there as well

Rory is the only player there with known marital issues involving a well known media personality

people tried to yell funny stuf
That’s my biggest problem.
“Trying” to yell funny stuff while holding your phone in hopes of creating a viral moment is trashy. Either yell something funny, or be quite.
You aren’t the star. You are a NY douche bag at the Ryder Cup.
F— the douches ls in the crowd and F— Rory.

The Ryder Cup has become complete trash because of the spectators.
This is golf, not WWE.

Having slept on it, and watching my Astros get eliminated by the Rangers, and the tiger’s failures, I think I’ve realized that I gotta care less about sports. Holy cow what a disaster.
On the fans, it’s sad because 99% of the people there are just there to cheer and have fun. The 1% can give everyone a bad impression because the quiet gives everyone an opportunity to be heard, and it’s too tempting for some idiots. I was lucky enough to go the masters about 10 years ago and that was the peak of crowd behavior. It’s a higher class crowd but also everyone knows you will get booted for bad behavior. I think if the Ryder cup patrolled the crowds better it could cut that nonsense out.

Agreed. Perp walk a few jackasses early on and it dries up. But the PGA and Euro organizers encourage the hostile environment. Reap what they sow.

For Scheffler… I read that of the 64 holes he’s played Euros have birdied 35. Wild stat!

It’s ridiculous they don’t have better crowd control.
What other sport on earth allows fans to get that close to professional athletes, and security is allowing the taunting, slurring, and verbal attacks mid swing.
