Not at bethpage at all places. We set up on green of hole 8 for the afternoon rounds. It’s in the far end of the property and when players are hitting their chip shots and putts it gets absolutely quiet. If anyone says anything at even a normal volume level it was extremely audible, which is why so many probably said stuff. The only possible ambient noises was a distant roar from another hole and those didn’t happen much.
Also, as the round progressed, the Euro fans got pretty bold and did all the stuff they complain about Americans doing (cheering bad shots mainly). Sadly they took over and it felt like a Euro home crowd by the end.
