I once double eagled a hole in the pitch black. over the trees I thought it was OB...took a courtesy walk by the hole and low and behold it was in the cup. you never know.

I was always told after the horn, you either mark or finish the hole. You can't hit a shot and then stop.

It depends on how many horn blasts there are. Don't quote me, but if it's one blast, you can finish the hole you are playing if you wish. If it's two blasts, you have to mark the ball and look for a ride to the clubhouse.

One long horn is stop play immediately. Three short blasts you can finish the hole. The issue isn't if they were allowed to finish the hole. It was that after the horn he had already hit one bunker shot. Once he hit that bunker shot, he has to finish the hole.

As long as it's not the immediately quit play horn, you can play that hole until you feel like stopping. So you can hit it on the green and stop there if you feel like. Same thing that you can play as far as you want on the hole, even if your partner stops at the tee.
