Well team Burns here. Looooong way to go but I hope he wins it. He's a putting machine.
That’s what happens when you do all of your practice on the greens at THE Squire Creek Country Club

Burns looked good today watched him play about 5 holes on the front side. Speed on the greens was on point

I think Burns loves these greens. That’s part of why he’s playing so well. Great putter love great greens. He’s also hitting his irons much better. He’s super streaky both ways though, good and bad. So who knows. I’m hoping for the best. I just hope he shoots a respectable round tomorrow to make for a fun Father’s Day.

It looks like the bottom's about to drop out there, I'm surprised they're not trying to cover the greens.. Ha

Id say normal people Watch the reaction to “only X amount of people are under par!” Or “The cut is plus 7!!”
How about this, he finished one under the cut line and is 9 strokes behind the leader. Thats not good
Btw, you mentioned the 300 yard par 3. They wouldn’t turn that into a par 4. They’d just play from a forward tee box if it wasn’t so far. It would be one of the easiest holes in major tournament golf as a par 4. There are also a lot of 500+ yard par 4s on tournament courses. And the ones at Oakmont are right at 500 yards. That would be a really short par 5 for pros.
It’s a par 71 for members. The difference being #9 is a short par 5 at just 477 yards. That’s not an unreasonably long par 4 for pros either.
Based on the setup of the course it should be a par 70. You can’t just say, “well a plus 6 is actually like a plus 2.” It doesn’t work that way

Watching a bunch of amateur golfers, who have to hit mid and long irons when they play, get so butthurt about pros having to hit a mid or long iron into a par 3 has never made sense to me. That’s pretty much the only way to test a pro with a 4 iron, they’re never going to have a long iron into a par 4

Phillip Barbaree is inside cut line as well. Good week so far for Shreveport golf. 265 doing work.

I honestly wonder how many times pros hit a 4 iron throughout the year. So many of them are hitting mid irons on their second shot into par 5s now and are using scoring irons into most par 4s as far as they hit the ball. I saw some statistic about how infrequently Rory hits more than a 9 iron on approach shots into par 4s. It was ridiculously low
Which is why I laugh when people talk about how long par 4s are at majors. Like yeah, they should be tested like that at a major.
And then you see pros bitch about 250+ yard par 3s. Well yeah, the rest of us have to hit long irons into par 3s too.

Haven’t been in this thread but just dropping by to say how much I love this course. I love seeing these guys losing it, talking to themselves, and having post round range sessions.
I know it can’t happen every week, but for one week a year it’s awesome.
Also what a round for burns. That has to be his best round since going pro given the scores today.

Why? Cut is going to be +7

Poa is Burns worst surface, most of his wins have came on Bermuda. I wouldn't say he loves these greens, he's just riding a hot putter from last weekend minus the playoff.

The cut line isn't moving from +7, if your sitting at +8 you're probably home with your wife right now.

Scottie still being +750 is nuts.
Gonna be really interesting to see if someone in the early part of the tee times is going to go low with the soft conditions. You’d think anyone +4 or better is still right in it.

Phillip Barbaree just finished. He was the last player to complete Rd 2 this morning. Despite a bogey on two of his last three holes, he made the cut at +7.

Wow
2 under headed to 16. Makes bogey on 16 and 17 and needs par to make the cut. Started on the back so finished on 9 which is playing as the most difficult hole on the course this week.

I’d just like to say, as I’m sure others have pointed out as well, NBC’s coverage sucks arse.
