After Rory went up two shots today, my Fiancé said “it’s time for the curse of Caroline Wozniacki” to kick in. My Fiancé is a big tennis fan, and she swears how Rory called off the wedding 10 years ago (dumping Wozniacki in a three minute phone call) has cursed Rory and he will never win a major again. Of course I laughed but after the past two years, it seems karma is a bitch. “Don’t dick over the Dane” is what my Fiancé says about the curse on Rory. Damn if it didn’t happen again today.

Hate to tell your fiancé but Rory went on a heater after doing that and played maybe his best golf ever winning 2 majors within months of breaking off the engagement

Dumped Wozniacki in May 2014. Went on to win the Open in July and PGA in August then Ryder cup in September

You can go listen to Brad faxon as well. He knows more than all of us combined on putting and said Rory went about the putt the absolute worst way he could have and he needed to hit it with pace

You do understand this argument loses all plausibility considering Rory, in the moment, has infinite more experience and more information than the announcer.

Regardless of the outcome of the putt, not a single person wants a downhill left to righter breaking a foot inside 4 feet to win a major.

And his decision making missed the putt

Or it was just a missed putt, it happens from time to time...

So is Bryson literally now on TV in the 18 bunker with Johnson Wagner while carrying his US Open trophy?

Bryson and Johnson on 18 is awesome. Johnson hot the same bunker shot to 2 feet.

Dude, it’s a 3’9” putt. Not a pro on the planet should be thinking anything besides absolute make. If you are checking anything at the time you are in absolutely the wrong spot mentally

And I guarantee you any good golfer will echo the above

I never said he wasn’t trying to make it. I said trying to make it by jamming it in would have been stupid.

In that scenario, with the speed of the greens, you have to hit a center cut putt if you hit it with any kind of pace. Miss a ball either way and you’re missing the putt.

Rory took a line that used all of the cup instead of 50% of it. He’s still a bitch, and I’m glad he lost. I’m just getting a good laugh at the “he should’ve just hammered it in” crowd.

Do what now?

That's what I was wondering. Among the living, Tiger, Jack and Gary Player weren't playing.

Pinehurst produced great theater. I’m probably in the minority but I’m both gutted for rory and happy for Bryson at the same time. Bryson’s turnaround has been great and I don’t really get the Rory hate. That putt on 18 was a lot tougher than people will make it out to be.

My only critique is I’d like to see the native areas at pinehurst play more punishing, but that’s nitpicking. Much bettet tournament than the PGA.

LOL! So he broke up with Wozniacki before the Open and PGA, wins the next two majors, and never wins a major again. Therefore, Wozniacki must have returned to Denmark after reaching the finals of the tennis US Open in September and then places the curse on Rory.

Seems like most rational people think this way

Question: When did the Players become a major? Are they trying to force a 5th major on us?
