Aaron Curry was the can’t miss prospect who was out of the league before he was 28

Lavarr Arrington? Why would we consider him a bust?

This is a popular opinion but if we actually look at his record it’s not as bad as some think.
He was out of the league in less than 3 years after being the number 1 pick and signing a massive contract.
He's one of the biggest busts of all time

Art Schlichter deserves a mention. Poor play wasn’t the only reason he was a bust. He was also a huge gambler and con artist.
The Colts immediately regretted the pick, and drafted John Elway the next year. So, the Colts spent the #4 pick on a bum, and the #1 overall pick on a QB that refused to play for them in back-to-back drafts.

I don’t know if many felt like ML’s skills would translate that well to the NFL. Dude is the most cross eyed mfer I’ve ever seen so he had that working against him
He liked the Hollywood lifestyle and wasn't committed to football.

The players the Packers passed on to pick Mandarich #2 overall;
Number three overall, HOF running back Barry Sanders.
Number four overall, HOF linebacker Derrick Thomas.
Number five overall, future HOF cornerback Deion Sanders.
The dude mainlined steroids in college. Couldn't take them in the pros so within his first season with the Packers he developed bitch tits as he shrunk.
His workout numbers;
quote:
Tony Mandarich, at 6'6" and 325 pounds, ran an official 4.65-second 40 time, meaning this beast of a man covered 40 yards faster than future HOF players Emmitt Smith and Jerry Rice at their respective workouts.
He was only marginally slower than 2009 studs Knowshon Moreno and Aaron Curry. At 325 pounds. Unthinkable. Incomprehensible.
Unbelievable.
And no, this guy was no one-trick pony. He bench pressed 39 times (only two less than dumbbell wonder Jonathon Ogden). His vertical leap was an unbelievable 30 inches. His broad jump was over 10 feet.

Russell Erxleben punter/kicker - Saints 1st round pick

As much as it pains me to say, Heath Shuler belongs on the list.
Dude would go #1 if his time were now. He had it all. Should've been Steve Young part 2. fricking Redskins
Mandarich is the answer. Dude roided his way to the top of the draft. Sucked without them.
Russell and Leaf have to be top 5. People actually debated Leaf and Manning. Nuts in hindsight. JaMarcus is just a whole other world of apathy. Kid got paid and said I'm out. Tools can never defeat the mind.

Aundray Bruce?
What? He was disappointing but he is not even the worst DE drafted #1 overall.
Steve Emtman
6 seasons
50 games played
8 total sacks
0 interceptions
Aundray Bruce
11 seasons
151 games played
32 total sacks
4 interceptions

Knew he was done when he took a knee on a kickoff return. Not in the endzone, he returned the the kick to ~15 yard line and then took a knee.

Hard to call him an outright bust like Jamarcus Russell. Carter falls into the injury bust category. He had a brutal knee injury with complications, was never really the same afterwards. Tried to come back, but had another string of injuries. He had talent but was derailed by health and a shite organization.
