Kilgore smoked our boys from La Vernia tonight 49-0. Region 4 champs 2 of the last 3 years, can't get past those East Texas teams in the semis though.

Lone Star knocks off Aledo

Aledo moves up to 6A next season. This was their last chance to add to their trophy case before the competition gets much stiffer going forward.

grandson plays for stephenville, hope they pull it out against a good kilgore team. wife and in laws grew up in newton. they should win easily. class 3a division 2 is terrible football, but newton has 4-5 guys that are hard to tackle. duncanville and soc have very good coaches and take care of their kids who otherwise might not have a chance, they recruit, but if you’re not cheating your not trying. my hope is south lake wins it as well.

I lived in Stephenville for several years. Great town.

I grew up and played for China Spring, another now 4A school. My earliest football memory for China Spring I was like 10 and remember Shawn Bell, later the Baylor QB that knocked off 8&4 at The Case, getting smoked in the regional final vs Newton. Would have been maybe 2000 or so.

Haha one year Jermichael Finley and the Diboll Lumberjacks rocked us too. They would just throw it up to him.

Good memories.

china spring has a great program. newton has been a power for a long time. same families live there and the names seldom change. they can play football.

celina had a good team. suited up around 100 last night. 30 game win streak. stephenville kicks fg with 7 seconds left to win. new stadium in stephenville is really nice. you can search you tube.

I have Aledo and Duncanville fatigue. You can probably add Carthage and Gunter in as well

I’m glad Celina is out. I know it’s not the kids fault, but I have a hard time believing their head coach was innocent in everything surrounding his son.

Some years they don’t have many more than 20 kids suited out but they’re all athletes. Shiner and Mart are the same way.

Southlake definitely is. But they have had a minor hiatus for Southlake’s standards in the last 14-15 years.

Allen went on a big run in the 2010’s, North Shore and Duncanville have become powerhouses in the last decade, and some of the Austin schools have taken some of Southlake’s shine away.

Southlake hasn’t won State in Football since 2011 I believe. They used to have the most state championships in Texas HS Football history with 8.

Southlake has however lost State twice in the last 5 years.

Definitely still one of Texas’s powerhouses. But have not won State since 2011. If you go back 15 years Southlake was the absolute powerhouse of Texas HS Football.

8 championships in 11 total appearances. They were the top program in the state in the early 2000s under Todd Dodge. 2010s they were still good but couldn’t break through. They’ve had a resurgence back to elite level in the last 5 years under Riley Dodge, Todd’s son.

North Crowley beat Duncanville in the semis last year, and Austin Westlake beat North Shore.

I don’t know if we’ll get lucky two years in a row, but any combination of D’vile/Allen and Westlake/NS will be a great final.
