Which begs the question - was he coerce in doing this from other "trivial" things from the past he couldn't escape.
they used him to attract players, and he knew they were running rigged games, from what they said in the press conference
not too different than using frank sinatra jr to get Davey into a hole.
It could be fairly innocent, like the mob guys knew CB like playing cards so they invite him to rigged games to have a NBA star there. He likes the money and goes from there.

They are going after the mafia leadership

This sounds like the worst of the BC points shaving and Referee gambling scandals combined. I think this undoes everything Magic/Jordan/Bird built.
HOLY frickin shite

Minor league tennis is owned by the Russian mob and they've been rigging matches for decades.

I've read about problems in tennis or other international sports for years. Supposedly organized crime elements would threaten players (often said to be Eastern European along with those threatening) and/or family members and encourage them to take a dive. These would not necessarily be names most people know, but players qualified to play in Open matches and touring.

Individual prop bets have to go if the leagues are going to maintain any semblance of legitimacy.
it’s true but it’s interesting because “Daily Fantasy Sports” with only player props is what caused the rise of Draft Kings and Fan Duel, which then led to the expansion of sports betting across the country.
those two have moved away from the Daily Fantasy stuff but now Prize Picks and Underdog fill the void for the states that still haven’t legalized…will be interesting to see what happens

Are you really a victim if you're participating in underground mafia poker games? Did one of Trump's buddies get swindled?

You’re a fool if you think this isn’t happening all over every league. A pure fool. Ask Ohtani
Iosivas dropped 3 easy catches in the second half against the Packers and the Bengals lost. That looked suspicious as hell to me considering that he'd had like 7 drops over the past 2 seasons combined.

I bet they were in gambling debt with the mob and this is how they were paying it off.

What were they doing?
This is all the ESPN article had about it. No specifics about how they did it...

Billups, who was arrested in Oregon, is charged in a separate indictment alleging a wide-ranging scheme to rig underground poker games that were backed by Mafia families, authorities said. The defendants are accused of using technology to steal millions from victims in the New York area, Nocella said.

The NY Post article says that it doesn't appear that the athletes involved in the poker games were paying off debts. They were probably marketing tools to draw in rubes to the games.

And people bet in sports believing the competition to be true and that these games aren’t manipulated.

I retract this statement. Looks like the investigation started during Biden's term.
I still maintain that Iosivas was suspicious as hell against the Packers though.

Wonder is Lebum is going to keep doing draft kings commercials?
