Phil Knight is getting up there in age and probably doesn’t have as much control of the business decisions as you think. He’d really be the only Nike connection steering recruits to Oregon.

It actually behooves Nike to encourage top recruits to go to other more nationally recognized college brands that get all the media coverage. The Pac-12 is way behind everyone else.

True, Angola without the school Angola would draw more visitors for the rodeo

Because larger followed schools are also Nike schools

Exactly. They will be slightly more enthusiastic in pushing for a Heisman candidate (Joey Heisman in Times Square) but that’s about it.

It’s not like Oregon is the only Nike school.

Because it’s still the Pack12 and no one watches that shite because it’s terrible product and because no one watches that shite because of how late they play.

Oregon recruits elite poon to the cheer, dance, softball, etc and that’s not enough to get beyond their top classes.

Arkansas gonna run shite. We don't have any pro teams or in state schools that are legitimate threats. Every little business and big can pay athlete's to do some commercials and shite and it's a tax write off. I'm in for a whatever Pitt Boss, Muss or DVH needs. Give us a shopping list and we'll bring'em home.

And you guys have Walmart money, right? When I heard about the NIL thing, I initially thought like OP that you'll get Phil Knight and Stephen Ross bidding for players or something. But, in football, I'm not sure that would happen except for the occasional stud QB. But, at the local level, that's where this might really interesting. How many OLs will have deals with the local pizza joint? The car deals out in the open might be wild.

Ohio people think they’re God’s gift, and they think that Ohio is this wonderland. I’ve been to Ohio dozens of times for work and to visit family friends. It’s not terrible, but there’s nothing special about it either.

It maybe a great city, but no one is visiting the area for the scenery. To his point, these recruits are coming there as a short stop before the NFL.

Columbus sucks. End of retort
Maybe in the past. But it’s much better now. Lots of development downtown. Plenty of entertainment and doesn’t feel like a big city. It’s got a good microbrew scene, is home of some tech hubs, and is a decent player in the fashion industry. What’s saved Columbus from the downturn like Cleveland and Detroit is the non-reliance on one singular industry for the economy. Now I don’t think Columbus is the most amazing city or anything, but there’s still a lot of positives.

Because the majority of college football players aren’t worth a hill of beans from an endorsement standpoint.

Secondly, Nike would loose so much money from SEC, ACC, B1G, and any other conference or school they sponsor if they start slanting the field to one team as opposed to the other.
