Tell me how Oregon does not become a top recruiter once NIL kicks in?

They're already recruiting in the top 10-15 range right now and they have very little in-state talent.

But wait until they convince every recruit that they will all have a Nike advertising contract/shoe deal if the go to Eugene, even if the kid has no shot of ever being a star and having any kind of name value. These kids will be so excited over the idea of being on a Nike poster that they will gleefully sign the dotted line.

I don't see how anyone else is going to be able to compete with them in that area... no matter how many Dodge Chargers are doled out.

Because Oregon sucks. And before you nitwits tell me “the Pacific Northwest is beautiful”, exactly how much do you think that means to a 18 year from Florida/Georgia/Texas?

Because Nike can do that with more than just Oregon

They’ll never compete with Bama or most of the SEC elite.

Nobody on the west coast cares about football.

Why do people act like places like Baton Rouge, Tuscaloosa, Columbus (OH), Gainesville, etc. are these incredible places to live? That's not why players join those teams.

WTF is this. Columbus is one of the biggest cities in the country and 3X bigger than the other 3 you mentioned combine. Columbus is the capital of a huge state and has tons of huge companies with HQs in the area, including Cardinal Health and L Brands.

That is an AWFUL take right there, and this is coming from a person who would never move back there

That's probably not that much different than what Oregon has been selling recruits for the last two decades. Come here be a star and you'll be close with the Nike people when you go pro.

Because Nike's not actually going to be putting random college players in ads. Most players will have someone around them smart enough to tell them that and rival recruiters definitely will.

The simple answer is that Nike will make more money from Ohio State and Alabama than from Oregon. They don't have to have players sign with oregon to take advantage of NIL.

Wut? This is like lumping Austin in with Lubbock, Waco, and Lake Charles.

It’s a much better city than the others, but it’s still a not a selling point for 18 year olds which was his point.

Don’t act like college recruits look are looking at crime statistics & home ownership rates when picking a football team.

1. No one said they were.

2. That’s where the top programs and generally the best coaches are.

3. Higher quality and higher quantity babes.

4. Better weather down south.

You’re right they don’t
It’s a college town, they’re all the same, party atmosphere, spend 4 years then get out
