If I understand your attempted analogy, it's a poor one.
Not at all. If someone aspires for something bigger than Tech, they will leave Tech. If someone aspires for something bigger than LSU, they will leave LSU.
All we can hope for is that they are successful enough to reach their aspirations. Most coaches end up getting fired.

I think the bible clearly proscribes Tech and ULM playing each other. Right after the part about gays and marriage. xiv can bring you up to speed on that one.

It's great that this thread is back.

At least LSU's not afraid to schedule Monroe.

Tech has offered ULM $$$ to play in Ruston for a one and done. ULM refused. The only reason ULM wants to play Tech is to have Tech as an opponent in Malone stadium. They just want the attendance spike so they can stay in D-1A.
Is LSU giving ULM a return game in funroe? Of course not.

Just pulling your chain.
I figure this thread's going to be a season long affair.
And I'm looking forward to when we can get Tech back on the Cajun's schedule.

I'd like to see that happen. In ALL sports.

This is precisely the reason for this thread. You really think Tech is equal to LSU. Why in the world would ULM agree to a one and done in Ruston?
Try and understand. NO ONE outside of Ruston thinks Tech is head and shoulders above ULM. Currently Tech is better and has had more success in IA, but Tech is no where near being in the position to think they are to good to play a game in Monroe. You do realize that if the entire population of Ruston were to attend a home game at Tech, there would still be about 4000 empty seats. What makes you think Tech would be helping out ULM if a game were played in Monroe anymore than ULM would be helping out Tech if a game was played in Ruston?
Unbelievable!!!

Other than ULM homers, I don't know of anyone who doesn't think Tech is better.
ULM wants this game more than Tech does. Fact. Therefore, Tech can set the terms. If ULM is scared, that's their problem.
If Tech goes to malone stadium, Tech would be helping out ULM (in a fashion similar to the ULM/Grambling game) by outnumbering their fans 3:1. That's butts in the seats to help your attendance requirements. We all know you need help to make the minimum requirements. I mean, why else would you work a deal with Arkansas to have one of their home games count as a ULM home game for attendance purposes only?

There are a couple of barriers to Tech and ULM playing football. In addition to Tech fans not being available during squirrel season, they are also preoccupied with competing to play Ned Beatty at the annual Lincoln Parish Deliverance Festival.

I was at NLU from 79-86, nothing remotely close to this happened.

Attendence figures for the last five seasons. Couldn't get 2004 so put 2003.
ULM
2008 96. La.-Monroe 6 117,116 19,519
2007 104. La.-Monroe 5 83,253 16,651
2006 99. La.-Monroe 5 111,564 18,594
2005 105. La.-Monroe 5 73,084 14,617
2003 114. La.-Monroe 5 56,492 11,298
Average = 16,135
Tech
2008 105. Louisiana Tech 6 108,121 18,020
2007 96. Louisiana Tech 5 92,812 18,562
2006 115. Louisiana Tech 5 72,928 14,586
2005 98. Louisiana Tech 5 82,080 16,416
2003 95. Louisiana Tech 5 103,890 20,778
Average = 17,672
Not much difference is it? I know, we count the Arkansas game. So what. You hosted Miss St. last year. There weren't 30,000 Tech fans at that game. So if Tech would ever lower themself and drive the 35 miles to Monroe and play ULM, where is this 3:1 butts in the seats ratio that you predict. You average 1500 more fans per year than us. How are you so much better? How are you too good to play in Monroe? How do you even try to compare yourself to LSU? Why is it that LSU is scheduling EVERY state school, with no fears, and Tech can't play a D-IA school 35 miles away? When we all know it will do nothing but good things for both schools and communitites. I don't get the Tech attitude. It just doesn't fit. Try to step outside yourself for a minute and see the truth.

Me thinks Tech needs a logic class.

I dont know why, but from a school that is 115 of 119 in average attendance...I would think Tech would want an attendance boost as well. Hell you take out the Arkansas game and ULM STILL brings in the same number as the vaunted TECH program.
They draw about 50k to the Arkansas game, they get about 14k per game at Malone. Subtract the 36k in attendance and they still beat TECH in attendance most years on the same number of games.

You are taking my comments out of context.
"this game" = series with Tech, with Tech playing in Monroe.
ULM is scared to go for a one and done in RUSTON. They refused the deal.

Check the newsstar paper after a ulm game. The attendance in the box scores is usually around 6K.

It happened the last time Tech played ULM. The game was at malone stadium and, but for a handful of ulm fans, only Tech fans were there.
ETA: And it happened when ULM played Grambling, as I mentioned in an earlier post.
