I can't believe this thread is still going.
I can't believe that Tech fans actually think they have a program that is too good to do a straight home/home with ULM. To think that is fricking stupid.

Signed,

Utah (Utah State)
Texas El-Paso (New Mexico State)
Memphis (Arkansas State)
Cincinnati (Miami-OH)
South Florida (Central Florida)
Rutgers (Navy)
West Virginia (East Carolina)

ps - If avoiding your two most traditional rivals is part of what puts you "in the right direction," your program is a steamy worthless pile of dog shite.

He is bitter. ULM just cannot get it together for any year they were in D1-A.

That much losing does that to a person.

Of course I'm bitter. ULM/Tech is the best non-LSU game in Louisiana to me, and Tech pussed out of the series when I was 10, so I never got to really enjoy it.

So they pussed out of the series to "go in the right direction." What has it gotten them? A trip to Boise and a trip to Shreveport.

Way to fricking go, pussies.

Just get a PS3 or XBox... Then you can play the game every night!

They played our senior year at Tech.

I was there. And I was already pissed that it was only a four-year contract. Of all the games I've ever been at Aillet, that's the only one that had any energy at all. I guess Tech is frightened of actually being entertaining.

xiv, do you remember when the NLU teams of Pat Collins beat Tech six out of eight in the '80s..........including two shutouts in Ruston?

Pat, of course, was a longtime Tech assistant who switched over to the dark side.

Is this the 1997 game you're talking about? I was there too. That was a great game. Too bad the three games that followed weren't as competitive. Those last three games is where this "superiority complex" is coming from.

Why didn't NLU cancel the series in 1988 and replace Tech with Marshall?

(Because we're not elitist snobby pussy-arse bastards.)

Your post earlier about Utah/Utah St. says it all. Why do they continue to play every year when Utah is by far the better program and has dominated the series much more than Tech has dominated ULM? Yet they continue to play. There must be some interest in the yearly matchup. What a concept!!!

In a lot of these cases, its the state legislatures that mandate that the teams play. This is the case in West Virginia (WVU/Marshall) and Utah (BYU/Utah/USU round robin). Could also be the case in Colorado, but I'm not sure.

Because they both hate the Mormans and need a common cause to unite them.

Could either team beat Grambling or McNeese this year?

Yep, I guess Utah just doesn't want to go in the right direction like Tech does.

Also, Cincinnati will play the Miami Red Hawks in Oxford, Ohio, this year. Why? BECAUSE THEY PLAY EVERY YEAR, PERIOD.

Cincinnati will probably be in the Orange or Sugar Bowl this year, too.

But I guess Cincy just doesn't want to go in the right direction.

Hey, Tech. Over here.

Either team could put Kige at quarterback and beat Grambling. SWAC football is the worst of the worst.

LA College would give Grambling a game.

Doubt it. The Buffaloes haven't played in Fort Collins in about 15 years. They either play a home game in Boulder or a neutral-site game at Mile High. Either way, that's a rivalry that stretches back to the 1890's; not playing that one would be a crime.

I'm an LSU grad...and I tend to agree that Tech is fearful of ULM. Tech thinks they will beat LSU everytime they play them....only to get trounced.

Monroe-Ruston aren't exactly booming economies..and the 30 mile rivalry was also a big boost for the economies. Isn't like playing ULM would ruin Tech's chances at a BCS bowl. Let's face it, both teams suck compared to the flagship institution in the state, and will never really amount to crap. The rivalry is good for the local economy...good for the fans, and it is just stupid that they don't play the game.
