I would take a chance on Tebow if I were the Falcons (if he didnt have all the distractions) could be a nice Goaline Wildcat QB. Think Blake Bell at OU last year.
Or just leave a better QB in and hand it to a better RB.

Talk about spinoff threads... We could probably get 100 pages on athletes who might have been better with another's heart/mind/lack of addiction...

quote:True, but not by much. They were both below-average QBs even in their best seasons. The difference is that Tebow's "bad" season was in his only half-season as starter as opposed to Russell, who proved over the course of three seasons that he was incompetent.
And his best pro years were better than Tebow was ever.
quote:Probably. I haven't said otherwise. I'd still rather have Tebow than Russell or the QBs the Jags currently have.
Face the facts: Tebow is a terrible NFL QB.
quote:My "ilk?" You're really arse-uming a lot, huh?
And why won't your ilk address the success that Sanchez has had in the playoffs when discussing your one "win" by Tebow?

55 turnovers in 31 games, you can't explain that. Tebow only had 16 turnovers in 35 games. One of the reasons Tim's teams win, and JR is not in the league.
What does Sanchez have to do with which bad QB will be in the league next year?

Imagine a thread about a QB with one good year in college from any of 100 schools not named LSU trying to make a comeback in the NFL after being an all time bust. Hell, if Matt Leinart had flaked out in his first three years, this board would be in tears at the notion he would be back in the league after a three year hiatus.

Not many of the big time QB busts cared less than JR did. It's sad on his part but he didn't give a damn and was drafted by the worst organization possible for him. Back on topic, him and Tebow are both terrible but I'm going JR if forced to for reasons previously mentioned

Sure I can. It is easy for QBs to fumble or throw interceptions when they play behind a shitty Oline and constantly have linemen eating their face off.

Russell can change his work ethic -- he may currently be in the process of doing that.
You and many others are drinking what JR is. Get real!

Tebow can't change the fact that his burly arm throws wounded ducks past 20 yards.
Stats prove you wrong.

Ah, JR cared, but his teammates didn't. New spin, I see.

Tebow has a better shot at making a roster next year. JR reputation pretty much dooms him as nobody will want him as a backup. Either the chances for either aren't great

I'd love to see some stats that say Tebow can throw.

Who do you think has the better chance of making an NFL roster next year?
really all depends on what team they end up getting a shot on. If Tebow goes to a team that will run a similar attack when he had a very sub par playoff run then yeah, I think it will be him. But the thing is, what he did a few years ago was an anomaly. Until he can become a decent passer, he'll have to deal with the same old crap.
Russell checked out on football a few years ago and now that he is trying to make a comeback, most assume he will fail. I mean its a fair one to make but to be completely close minded to the idea of any kind of success at a comeback is totally ignorant. If he does fail again, it shouldn't be due to the fact he isn't in shape.
Apparently he has been busting his arse to get back in shape but hey, that doesn't guarantee shite. I'd think that he would have a different mentality this time around and not take things for granted, we'll see what happens.

Since when does 22+23 = 55. You suck at math.

This whole thread is like arguing who the taller midget is.

i would take RP11 over both.

I'm talking about when you fools want people to "give timmy a chance" because "he wins", I've pointed out that Vince Young wins games. You guys respond with Tebow's sole playoff win, and I respond with Sanchez's multiple playoff wins.
If Tebow "deserves" a chance because "he" wins, then so do those guys--and they can actually complete more than half their passes.
My point here is that you assign far too much credit to Tebow for the Broncos' mediocre level of success two years ago. He didn't start in NY because Sanchez, butt fumble and all, was a better option. Yet your kind goes on about how Ryan didn't want to give Timmy a chance because he might succeed. You know, because NFL coaches hate winning...

Tebow has a better chance to make the Astros roster.

If Sanchez was still playing like Sanchez but the Jets were still going deep into the playoffs, I all but guarantee that while he'd have his detractors, he'd still be the unquestioned starting QB of the Jets. Tebow wasn't given every opportunity to prove himself like Sanchez was, which is probably fair given how bad Tebow apparently looks in practice, but I don't think the analogy is a good one. Tebow's only season resulted in a run and a playoff win. Sanchez hasn't been to the playoffs in a few years.

OK... Sanchez will get a chance next year, and Vince Young probably would if he wasn't a basket case.... which leads me to Vince Young probably hurts your argument because he is more talented than Tebow, but his mental problems will keep him off a team, see also Jamarcus Russell.
And again, we are talking about Russell and Tebow, not Vince Young, Rex Grossman, or Sanchez.

I'm attacking the overall pro-Tebow argument, not this shitty thread about two shitty QBs.
