why? That's ridiculous and teenagers by and large don't have the maturity to handle an uninhibited free agency.
Why not? I believe they can in other sports. And their coaches can jump ship whenever.

Urban loved Martells running ability, not so impressed with his passing ability.

tOSU coaches must of promised the job to Fields,
Well I don’t know why you are so sure of this. It’s more likely that Tate knows that Fields is a better QB and he’s unlikely to be the starter if the waiver is granted.

Ohio State had better hope to god that Fields is eligible and doesn’t get hurt. They are absolutely screwed if either of those two happen

The word out of bowl practice was that Baldwin was tearing it up and pushing Martell for the backup spot.

Why is the transfer portal all of the sudden a thing? Kids have been transferring for quite some time. Why are we now fixated on the portal?

why?
Because every other d1 athlete can besides basketball, and because their coaches can leave them with no penalty as well

Yeh, I am not exactly sure what you are going for.

I still think Fields has a battle on his hands with Martell if he stays.

because even if people don't want to believe it we're still talking about "amateur" athletics. Allowing anyone free reign to take their ball and go home the first sign of adversity is going to be pandemonium. I guarantee you if that happens you WILL see guys that play for 3 different schools in 3 straight years simply because they were unhappy with their PT. How is that good for them or each school?

their coaches aren't amateur athletes they are paid professionals. Not to mention there are stiff penalties for leaving their institution before their contract is up.

No penalty lol. Did buyouts disappear overnight?

I guess since coaches can get paid, can stay longer than 5 years, publicly endorse products, receive free items in exchange for their time, profit off their likeness, etc all the players should too then huh

coaches are gd adults in a paid professional job, not an amateur college student playing a sport on scholarship. I guess since your company CEO can take off any day that he wants to play golf or go to Europe for a month then the front desk secreaty and janitor should be able to as well? I mean since all levels of the organization are equals in your mind.

QB isn't like other positions where you might still have a good chance of getting decent playing time as a backup though.

If you aren't starting as a QB and the guy that is happens to be the same age or younger you are going to ride pine regardless of how good you are.

I think it's a near certainty he gets the waiver

Well just like an employee that hops from job to job when they don’t get it done, I’m sure schools will catch onto these kids.

You mentioned their immaturity as teenagers. They’re also teenagers in those sports too.

1) That's your job as a recruit to pick the best situation for you.

2) It's nobody else's fault you aren't as good as the starter.

In no way is it good for football, the schools, or that individual's development as a player/teammate/man to transfer every year. And rest assured it will happen. Someone will eventually hit the bingo board and play 4 schools in 4 years.
