I think I read somewhere that this year Lebron is projected to become the all time minutes played leader in NBA history if you include playoffs. Passing Jabbar

The point is Lebron is younger so his 21st season has less overall basketball wear due to not playing in college

No, it means he started playing in the nba younger and was consistently playing high minutes on teams that went deep into the postseason, so he has far more overall basketball wear due to not playing in college.

I dislike lebron, but his longevity has been a joy to watch. He's still productive offensively, aged better by shooting, and avoided major injury. Gotta give him those props.

But he still isn't goat

Nailed it. We can be in awe of Lebrons greatness and being transcendent in many ways while also recognizing that none of this longevity stuff matters to the real question, who is the goat? That question is only answered by who was better in their peak. Jordan easily. I still have Kobe ahead of Lebron myself so it's all moot to me.

How is longevity not relevant to the GOAT discussion? Terrible take

Again, he has significant advantages to the others on that list. As several people mentioned, the medical care, therapy and training have drastically improved since then.

Further, the game is significantly less physical than it was in the past. This is not debatable. LeBron gets much more leeway because of the new rules and much less injuries.

A guy like Jabbar, Malone, and Shaq were beaten to a pulp. Jordan was beaten to a pulp on drives.

LeBron has been an amazing player, but let’s at least be honest at how many advantages he has gotten over the years.

LeBron also played for three Olympic teams. That adds to the mileage, along with regular deep playoff runs.

This is just patently incorrect.

A few haymakers and cheap shots by unathletic guys doesn't mean that overall wear and tear is less today.

Lebron has taken more brutality than anyone not named Shaq. The refs literally call the game differently against him to let defenders hack him (like Shaq). Jordan and Malone were never treated that way.

He's played in 282 playoff games and several international comps and has averaged 71 games per year.

He probably has the most overall basketball wear of anyone in history, maybe Kobe comes close.

It took Lebron 1400 games to log 107 triple doubles, Jokic tied him in 600 games

That’s when you easily tell who is a LeBron jock sniffer.
