Catering to the more casual baseball fan, Wright, Longoria, and Howard aren't the names of those that I listed IMO.
Longoria is close to the top of the list.

I was talking about Hamilton's injury the other day here at work and one of my coworkers (female) goes "Oh, you mean the hot one?"
I go "Just how in the frick do you want me to respond to that?"

for someone who claims to own a baseball school, you sure dont understand much about that game
25/80 for a 1B is not equal to the same numbers for a SS. Come on dude.

I've got sig dibs on this. Not because of anything you've said LE, I just think it's awesome that GCA is now who we compare a poster we think is saying stupid shite to.

Lester, you still a good ole HR/RBI/Avg guy?
I look at everything.
i have a huge pet peeve regarding people who watch very little baseball but base everything on stats.
for instance saying Votto has been the 2nd best player in baseball the last 3 years.
08 he had a great rookie season, but hardly one of the best in the league
09 was strong, but not elite
2010 he had an MVP season. And is not one of the top 10 hitters in the game.
he simply hasn't been the 2nd best player in baseball the last 3 years because advanced metrics says he is.
btw

Tulo's last 40 games:.318, 1.225 OPS, 22 HR, 52 RBI

I'm confused. If numbers show that he has been, how do you argue that?
Superstars imo:
Hamilton
Pujols
Lincecum
Jeter
ARod
Possibly: Halladay, Lee, Mauer

Would you say Lince over Halladay and Lee due to looks? More "out there" in terms of ads, etc? Halladay and Lee are superstars in my mind due to talent level and production... But I know that to a casual fan the marketability aspect is big.

yeah. They're known for high levels of success, on par with his in baseball circles, but I think he's more of a recognizable guy.
GQ cover etc.

I don't hate the guy as much as a lot of Rangers fans do
I honestly don't understand why Ranger fans hate Arod. Like at all.
While in Texas he had one of the best 3 year stretches in baseball history. He probably actually outperformed his contract. And it wasn't like he started bitching and demanding to be moved out of Texas, the Rangers chose to move him to cut salary (if I remember correctly).

that's what I figured.
while it's good for the sport to have recognizable guys, it says a lot about "fans" when they would be able to pick Lince out of a crowd and not Halladay, Lee, etc.
sign of the times though.

I'm guessing it has more to do with a growing dislike of him that has been applied after the fact.

No Votto?

a lot of that is rooted in personality though. Halladay's 2k11 commercials are a good example. Non descript, and in one of them he makes it about his catcher. There is no 'look at me' and that's by choice.
Cliff is same in that you really don't know or hear anything about him off the field.
On the field, they're both about as superstar as you can be, but it ends there.

there's a lot of angst from Rangers fans toward the Yanks, the playoff meetings being what they had been previously.
His numbers that he put up were incredible. But like I said, it was "because" of him that the Rangers had the bankruptcy deal, etc. While he wasn't the only one, he was the primary bread winner- he was getting paid no matter what.
So... I hate the management for what they did to get the Rangers in that predicament, and A-Rod was a leading cause of that. For a lot of Rangers fans, they don't make the cross over... Easier just to blame it on A-Rod I guess.
Personally, I just don't like the way the guy presents himself.

Votto is one of those inside the game superstars but it probably ends there.
The all star game snub is pretty telling.
