Do you realize these are all quotes from you in THIS thread? You are acting like GamecockAlum.

You realize they play different positions?
Those numbers for a SS are tops at the position.
Those numbers for a 1b are Adam laroche-esque

I don't count anyone who hits for Colorado a Superstar.

Lester, you still a good ole HR/RBI/Avg guy?

I don't just crap on RBI's.
But "superstar" has nothing to do with numbers. Derek Jeter is a superstar, no one would really argue that point. He's iconic. But his numbers aren't eye popping (though they are Hall of Fame caliber). But Jeter's a superstar because he IS the Yankees. Same deal with Ripken, back in the day. His numbers were Hall of Fame good, but not eye popping. but he was certainly a superstar.
Superstardom has more to do with marketing. If you asked a casual sports fan who barely follows baseball, "who is Troy Tulowitzki?" they would like have no idea. To me, that means he's not a superstar.
Which is too bad, because he's a great player.

I think Baseball is a little less Hype driven when it comes to marketing/superstars angle than Basketball and Football are.
Most baseball fans recognize who the true superstars of the game are by production on the field, but you are right there are varying criteria depending on who you ask.

You can't compare Jeter's star power to Tulo. Hes been in the league 15 years on the premier franchise in the game.
Tulo has a few years under his belt in COL.
My casual baseball fan friends know Tulo. He'll be a household name at years end IMO.
Hes got a likable personality (the mullet for locks of love, Miley Cyrus walk out music etc) plays on a young, up and coming team, can straight mash and plays good D.
He could be the face of baseball in a few years

Once Carlos Lee retires, I believe Tulo is the natural successor

Pujols
Hamilton
Halladay
Lee
Jeter
A-Roid
Mauer has become a household name IMO.

I don't hate the guy as much as a lot of Rangers fans do. People tend to forget that he hit 50+ homers in a season as a Rangers uniform.
I hate the mgmt for paying him that much and assfricking the team for the next 10 years.
He's a hell of a ballplayer... Just don't like his personality much.

Good list. I'd add
Longoria
Howard
Maybe David wright

No doubt.
Do the Rangers even have any of the pieces they got for A-Rod still in the organization?

at this point, I couldn't even tell you who the frick they got.
I've tried to forget all of that business.
But I won't lie to you... Nefi getting A-Rod looking for the ALCS gave me a week-long boner.

I would say all three of these are declining pretty rapidly.
I've always liked David Wright, and though he's still putting up numbers, it almost seems like his stardom was a flash in the pan.

Soriano and Joaquin Arias... yep, they're both gone.
Posted on 4/15/11 at 9:23 am to SCUBABlake
Declining rapidly? Naw.
Wright and Longo had great years last year. Howard maybe a little.
I was talking more about their star power more than their talent

Sorry, should've specified. I meant as far as talk, etc. Wasn't talking numbers wise.
Catering to the more casual baseball fan, Wright, Longoria, and Howard aren't the names of those that I listed IMO.

Sure they are.
Longo is popping up everyday in video game and new era commercials.
Howard is the same way with Subway, plus he's a top black player in the league.
Wright is known for playing in a large market, his good looks, vitamin water etc.
Most casual fans should know these guys through advertisement and commercials at the least.
