I didn't know that. WOW!! Boston College lost to Pitt the week before.

That's because in the heat of adversity, USC's vainglorious head coach has feet of clay and a glass chin.

I'm no Sark fan and thought/still think it was a terrible hire, but USC was going to have issues this year and next even with Saban or Carroll coaching.

Wilcox is also extremely overrated. Dude sucks.

You wanna talk about a garbage coach? How about Steve Spurrier with his awesome 79-40 record with South Carolina.

spurrier took over a cellar dweller that isn't in the most amazing area for talent, has lots of competition in his region, AND doesn't have the history/prestige or money to compete with the big boys

It's his FIRST season. How can one say that about a guy 3 games into his first season?

This. However, I see Tennessee replacing South Carolina as soon as Spurrier retires.

I don't care for Butch's offense much at all, but he is recruiting his butt off.

i just don't see UTenn being able to keep recruiting out of state at a level they'll need to in order to stay elite

they're the michigan of the SEC

UT ALWAYS does well in GA and has some pipelines that still exist in FL.

Bama depends on out of state talent more often than not. Why can't Tenn? If UT can prove they can win, why couldn't they do like Fulmer used to do or like Saban does now and pull out of state kids? Oregon survives on it? UT's facilities are probably top 3 in the SEC along with Bama and TAMU now.

Also, USC is a Top 5 college football job. They could have done SIGNIFICANTLY better than Steve Sarkisian.
Clearly, they couldn't. IIRC, they were told "Thanks, but no thanks" by Sumlin and a couple of others.

THIS. Even now with the Seahawks it doesn't matter what coordinators they lose, Pete keeps winning.

To lose like THAT a week after BC lost to Pitt and during the season after they lost Andre Williams is astounding.

Stanford has been overrated. SVP broke down Andrew Luck and the guy is ranked like 42 out of 46 QBs in throws over 10yards. Gethart hasn't done much, the OL have been good and Richard Sherman has been their best product.

Maybe their offense and the players weren't what we thought they are.

Shaw is insane overrated and makes some of the stupidest decisions in big games I've seen

I like Shaw, but I agree. He's such a wimp in big game situations and so scared to run anything but a dive in down-and-goal and 3rd/4th-and-short situations.

Seriously, the guy punted from both USC's 32 and 29 yard line in that loss. Let that sink in -- he punted from USC's 29.

The only this in this thread is THIS

For anyone to think that USC is going to win a title or get to the playoffs with their current scholarship limit and roster makeup (there are freshman playing anywhere) is just stupid. They were ranked #9 only out of deference for the history that is USC football (again why teams should not be ranked so early in the season). I'll wait until at least the 2016 season to judge any coach there. Just don't be a jackass like Kiffin.

Yes.

Shaw punted from USC's 29, which most coaches would consider deep in opponent territory.
