2.5 million? If he even pays it(Al Davis anyone?) he will just add this NBA tax on top of the amount he sells the team for. If he even sells it.

Owners have to be asking themselves, if anyone digs up any dirt on them, illegally records private conversations, or do anything that upsets anyone will they lose their team as well?

i don't associate with racists, because i don't believe in racism. it's not a difficult concept

i think it's utterly irrational to believe that racism should require an emotional response and/or temper tantrum

Soo.... being offended by a racist mofo is emotional and stupid yet refusing to associate with a racist person is... what now?

Your logic makes no sense.

Either you were offended by your relative's racism and thus do not want to associate with them due to how their thoughts make you feel or you wouldn't have called them out in the first place b/c you wouldn't be offended by simple words.

rational. do you often choose to associate with people who do things you believe are destructive and irrational?

It is is emotional when it gets taken overboard. Being offended by certain things is human nature. Taking a simple offense and turning into the equivalent of slavery is emotional. Do you not understand the difference?

I understand this, but you are also failing to understand that he must operate under whatever bylaws are agreed to under the "NBA constitution". If his actions violate those laws and if the NBA has consequences in place to reprimand him, then the NBA is fully within their authority to do so.

This is the usual response to my opinion of racism. And nowhere did I say "deal with it" to this guy.

Of course, but is there any kind of provision that says an owner can't be a complete a-hole?

I mean, they could kick the Clippers out technically, right? But they would NEVER do that.

I just really don't like this "force him to sell" strategy. If he had committed a crime or something, sure, but all he did was say something that pissed some people off.

Those NBA/NFL attorneys are all antitrust litigators.

Another reason why the courts never apply antitrust law to sports league... their legal teams are awesome. People keep throwing out the term "antitrust", but I just don't see how its a good argument for Sterling.

He's going to argue breach of contract. Probably still a loser, honestly. I think Silver wants this to go to trial. Can you imagine Sterling's deposition?

Is "being a good human being" or "being non-racist" codified in the NBA constitution as qualifications for ownership?

What?

Rational?

What are you a Vulcan? Either their racist ways offend your beliefs or they don't.

If you feel their racist beliefs are irrational and upset your rational way of life are they not offending the structure by which you live your life?
