Sterling should tell Silver/NBA they can get the $2.5 million from the LA NAACP, since they apparently don't want it any longer.

How many billionaires do you talk to personally?
I'm sure some are like that, but who knows how the other 29 owners in the NBA are

Lee, just don't bother with these fools. He is clearly the most racist man in the world. I don't doubt the dude is prejudice, but to keep bringing up a settlement as if it some admission of guilt shows how well these fools know the law.
Plenty of people settle when not guilty because of the risk for potentially greater losses and dragging things out.
$50 says these same guys don't claim Kobe is automatically guilty of rape because he settled with his alleged victim. Clearly, I mean he settled with the victim. How is a confirmed rapist by that evidence allowed to play in the NBA?

Does it strike anybody else as strange that the two principal combatants here are named "Sterling" and "Silver"?

Silver's role is another aspect in this I'm leery of. Admittedly I'm not worried about this situation, just curious, but he's going to be in a position to tell the other owners how to vote. It's already started. And he'll be successful, because with the stigma that would come from voting for a racist, everyone will fall in line.
If the vote would be 29-1, then I would agree that the one owner would be scrutinized (the white guilt media would just love that would they?) but if 17 of them vote no, then absolute jack shite will happen to them. What? Will they make all 17 sell their teams lol?

This is so damn stupid
The man was obviously losing it as are most owners over 80
Come on

they're making a calculated risk. the PR victory (or stopping the PR loss) is worth more than a possible claim by sterling, prior to settlement. it's risk-loss assessment. they had a dam that needed an immediate plug they will deal with the fallout in teh offseason or when people forget about the story (just like the other 500 sterling-racism incidents)
Maybe, but my point is that the NBA brain trust of lawyers know which legal routes they can take.

a jew running the NBA is no shock
a minority being accused of racism is stretching the bounds of the modern definition of racism

This wasn't the situation
It was something to do with wrongfully evicting blacks and Hispanics from complexes they were already renting

I love how they are referred to as minorities. Isn't that term in itself racist? and yet the media refers to this term all the time
you think the term minority is racist?

I have no idea. I have never met the guy! He is dating a half black girl He has hired about 6 black basketball coaches in his tenure, paid several black players quite well.

they don't know the results
the first major issue will be if sterling could bring an antitrust suit, which will take years to litigate and there is no 100% guaranteed answer at this time. if he wins that, NBA fricked. even if he loses, an arbitrator may find the NBA exceeded its authority

Oh wow
LA NAACP Chapter gave Sterling a lifetime achievement award

Damn that was quick. Did they at least wait long enough to give the Rev. Al Sharpton enough time to extort money from outraged guilty white liberals?

The frick are you talking about? I never said anything saying it was an admission of guilt. Nor do I think the housing discrimination suit is at all relevant to this situation.
All I've said is that banning him was a very good business move and that the NBA's push to force him to sell should be interesting.
None of us know every element of the NBA's constitution, so we can speculate until we're blue in the face.

He did those thing for his own personal gain. I can think of some people who did the same thing a long time ago...and they were definitely racist
