You could use the same argument regarding white players. That’s an even bigger disparity. Where’s the outrage or is merit based success only good sometimes?
Is this the "Why don't we have white cornerbacks?" argument again?

No it’s the “why don’t we have black coaches?” argument again. I was demonstrating how hypocritical it is.

Because the bottleneck is going from position coach to coordinator, not coordinator to HC.

Giants and Bengals have hired position coaches. Cardinals hired a fired college coach. The pipeline argument is becoming less relevant.

I don't see how this is relevant at all when deciding a coaching hire.

2) Recent hires Kliff Kingsbury and Joe Judge had woefully thin resumes, but got the benefit of the doubt because they're white.

Bold assertion, with presumably no evidence to back this up.

My profession (accounting) has our national association (the ACIPA) and they like to beat their chests a lot about the lack of black firm partners. It is low... very low... single digits low.

And the argument is, why is it say 3% when blacks make up more than 3% of Americans?

While this is true... if you look at the number of black accountants who graduate school with an accounting degree and want to move up therough the ranks... that percentage is around.. 3%.

So it's not like there is some sort of glass ceiling involved.

How many qualified black coordinators are in the NFL? Or college head coaches who could step up?

If you want more black head coaches, you need more black coordinators. if you want more black coordinators, you need more black position coaches, which means more blacks wanting to get into coaching.

Obviously not 100% & FBS has the same bottleneck so hiring a HC from college not really relevant.

Pretty much the only way to become a major college or NFL head coach is to be a former player at least on the college level or be somebody’s kid who was a coach. The only 2 outliers i can think of off the top of my head are Mike Leach & Charlie Weis. So yeah, it’s relevant.

This racism needs to be dealt with immediately.

Whites are underrepresented in the player ranks. This has to stop.

Surely you understand the coaching ranks isn’t the same meritocracy the players experience, right?

Let's be honest, Bienemy is a very good candidate, he should be a top candidate for one of these openings, yet, so far he has just received a patronizing, "we have to interview one Black candidate", interview.

They basically want racial quotas.

Fine! Let's just make sure the quotas are across the board and for everyone.

Kliff Kingsbury was a really bizarre hiring. 35-40 record in college and had a losing record with Patrick Mahomes as his QB. Yet somehow he actually seems to be doing a decent job with the Cardinals. Go figure

It’s almost like it’s hard to win at Texas Tech or something.

People tend to focus on the fact that he didn't have a successful record while at Tech. But he was clearly hired because of his offensive philosophy and not for what he did with the entire program

This was obvious from the jump. The people who said it was going to be a bad hire because of his lack of college success weren’t capable of putting that together though.

Everyone knows white owners and white GM’s are racist. That’s why they are in a profession where they employ mostly black people.

How many white slaves worked on plantations?

I don't think GMs are in a position to be racist at all, but your argument sucks.

Judge has been an offensive guy for one season and the unit he was in charge of was abysmal.

I don't want to shite on Judge because I know very little about him. Chris Long mentioned the fact that he coached the WR & ST's unit at the sametime. Which isn't an easy task.

I do think that we are starting to see a trend where coordinators aren't always the first thought as far as new hires go. This sort of shift could lead to more situations like what we see in college football with CEO & Dabo. Guys are hired to manage coordinators and players more than X's/O's

I refuse to believe that NFL GM's and College AD's, as competitive as the market is and as high as demands are from fans, would not hire a black coach they thought was the best option. But I have seen enough mind-numbing retreads in the NFL that I may be wrong.
