Who you drafting tomorrow to start a franchise knowing both today’s game of how it’s transitioned and what you know about each of their careers.

Steph since Kobe is retired

But seriously I’d most likely take neither and trade the pick. I’d build inside out.

This is a hell of a debate as far as history. I'm a bit of a Steph fanboy and not really a Kobe guy, but my gut tells me Kobe right now.

Thats just gas

I’ll let some more people pick Kobe before I make them look foolish

I mean you can’t say either of them won it alone. I guess I like Kobe more as his Olympic performance when he said ill guard whoever was incredible and unselfish. Something I’d thought I’d never think of Kobe.

In 2004, if the Lakers have Steph instead of Kobe...they sweap the Pistons.

In 2004, only one player in the NBA could stop Shaq and that was Kobe.

Trade the pick? Are you shitting me? A hypothetical choice between two all time greats and your “serious” answer is to trade a pick that doesn’t exist.

Lol, no. This thread is gonna be awesome because reasonable people can disagree.

I mean, if I am starting a team in 2019, I guess I go with Steph on threeball analytics. But, I also feel Kobe is a top 5-10 GOAT lock and Steph isn't.

Because I explained myself. I’d go build big. I’d rather be solid in middle than have a guard. Always take the better big man than the guard.

Kobe was a great shooter on top of being great at driving to the lane. Steph has great shooters around him that keep teams from being able to just focus on him. Got to go with Kobe.

Not really

Steph has an eFG% of 58.2

Kobe has an eFG% of 48.2

That is a a staggering difference between a great shooter and a volume shooter

Just last spring, 90% of this board was trashing Steph because KD was taking his Finals MVPs and giving him rings that KD earned. All of a sudden in the last two weeks, Steph has ripped that all away and now the titles are meaningless to KD solely because Steph helped GSW get through two playoff rounds this year.

What does that have to do with Kobe not even sniffing the top 5?

Kobe really isn’t as special as he is made out to be. There is a solid number of players now who add similar skill sets who were/are highly efficient and impactful.

Who is Steph’s peer as far as skill set?

I would choose Steph.
