On his way to the 7rh tee curry stopped to watch an iPhone video of his birdie that someone had taken. Then he ran to catch up with his group.

So to recap. Curry is teeing off on his final hole of the day. It hasn't always been pretty but he has avoided disasters for the most part. Just one double. Three birdies He seems to be having fun. As of last hole he was tired tied for 104th so the weekend seems unlikely. But he is giving it a respectable run

Completely agree. The one big difference between playing golf and other sports though is that you don't really need opponents to get better. Steph plays probably close to every day for 3 months of the year.

Don't get me wrong, this is still ridiculously impressive, but golf is a sport where you don't have to train all the time to be good. Hell, my brother shot 66 on a 7,000+ yard course the other day on his third golf round in the last 6 months, and he didn't play college golf either.

Also, I'm not even sure what I'm arguing with you about

I'd say he shoots 76/73.

Didn't factor in that it was a par 70. That's my mistake.

I'm not mad, he's gonna miss the cut by a big margin. :-)

Curry is listed as an amateur on the leaderboard. How does that work?

If he were to finish in the money he couldn't accept it. It would also mean he would no longer be eligible to play in future ameteur events, but You can get your am status back if you have turned pro before.

Means he's just like any other amateur, should he make the cut, he wouldn't get any money because he isn't a pro.

A player can designate themselves a pro and receive winnings or can be deemed professional if they receive any sort of prize money.. He is simply retaining his amateur status by Forfeiting any winnings he could possibly earn.

Can he accept sponsorship items as an amateur?

I know the NBA is irrelevant to professional golf, but it's still funny seeing the highest paid salaried athlete in American sports listed as an amateur at anything.

Curry, because of his name is getting to play in a tournament where the top 125 get to play the PGA tour next year.

So unless he finishes within the Top 125 (or Top 25 as someone else stated), it doesn't frickin matter who's spot he took.

Quit bitching.

s I said earlier in this thread, that is not a great look for golf.

Do you know how many people are following the Web.com tour this weekend that have never followed it before? I'd say its great for golf.
