if you're the jags, you'd think you'd want to have a draft deal in place if this blockbuster trade were to happen.

Say jags move up to 2 and swap with browns. Or hell, maybe jags take on deshaun watson.

I get the veneer of SI posting it make it sound legit, but I would consider the source very dubious

I’m betting it was a pretty quick call

Because the Jags will get better if they trade Lawrence if they get some picks and some players.

I’d trade him tomorrow if I was the Jags

You should read up on the salary cap hit the Jags would take. That might change your mind

There's really two ways to be good in the NFL. Have an elite quarterback with decent surrounding pieces or have a decent quarterback with elite surrounding pieces.

The jags have a decent QB and decent surrounding pieces. Lawrence is not going to get vastly better in that organization and he costs a lot of money, I think it would be difficult for them to surround him with enough guys to compensate for his shortcomings. So you trade him, and either draft or sign a guy that can give you close to Lawrence production for a fraction of the price, and you acquire picks to build your team from the lines outward.

Could be the rare NFL trade that benefits both parties.

What players on the Steelers do you want?

If I’m the Saints, I’m offering #9 overall for Lawrence immediately.

Denver dumped Wilson and had a MASSIVE cap hit, yet made the playoffs.

Fitzpatrick would be a start. Elite player at a non premium position that instantly improves your defense and locker room culture

Guess y’all were right. Steelers called about it, made an offer, and the Jags laughed and hung up the phone.

Yearly tradition of local radio / media guys getting bored and trying to drive viewership in the offseason

Anytime I see a tweet breaking news from someone I don’t recognize, I always check for their profile and 9/10 it’ll go “catch us at 4 on WXMFZ!” And I know to ignore it

Or most likely none of it happened at all

They would laugh and hang up. Probably call other franchises so they could have a good laugh also.

Cam Ward might be good in the league. He's cool, calm, collected and competitive as heck.

Might as well shut down the franchise if that’s their move.

This isn't happening

Trevor is the 19th highest paid QB by cap hit this upcoming season. However "mid" you might (wrongly) think he is, he is better than the 19th best QB.

They would have $100m dead cap hit from trading him.

The new coach said specifically that a big part of the reason he took the job is to work with Trevor. New OC said the same thing.

The "source" within the Jags said the Steelers offered that, not that the team was listening.
