Time to shift some pieces around. The worst thing you can do is sign bad megadeals.

Still have a 2-3 year window in my opinion. Core is still extremely strong. Good mix of vets and youth.

Agreed Caps have a few years left with this core. Get healthy and rested for next season.

I did ok. LSU had a bad night.

LSU had won 2 NCs in 4 years before then. So, as you stated...I was already far less stressed about things.

Leafs were always going to have a hard time going all the way with that defense. The first two Bruins goals in game seven showed you why. I think the only series of the opening round I got right was Boston-Toronto so my predictions don't mean shite right now. For entertainment purposes only I am going Islanders-Bruins and Blues-Avalanche in the conference finals. Other than the Columbus-Boston series I am going with rest over rust in the next round. Hard to believe I am thinking that the Islanders might be the favorites now but I don't think anyone can argue that they don't have the best coach left and they are probably the healthiest team left.

Also most of the time in the NHL really good defense comes off looking on TV more like really bad offense. By that I mean you can see what the offense is not doing but you can't really see what the defense is doing to cause it. You could see the Islanders defense when they played Pittsburgh. It didn't look like Crosby and company were tripping over their dicks. It looked like the Islanders defense were strangling the Penguins with them.

Crazy, no division winner makes it past first round and the East is anyone's now. Never know what will happen within NHL playoffs, and there's usually some randomness here & there, but these playoffs are unusual. Like I said, crazy playoffs but at least we had a few 1st round series that went the distance. Hope a team that's never won "The Stanley Cup" wins it because my wish is that every fan can at least experience a "Cup" run once. Then after that, the teams that haven't won in awhile from longest to shortest. Deserving players, coaches, etc. come & go, but fans are forever......

Now, I wouldn't be hurt if Bishop/Dallas takes it all. Bishop has been so clutch in playoffs during his career, and he's paid his dues, then some. The Lightning wouldn't have made those unexpected deep playoff runs without Bishop's play. Shoot, the Lightning's D looked lost when he got hurt that one playoff run. Bishop was enough to be the difference-maker in a couple of those series, and if Dallas's offense gives him a little support. They'll be dangerous.

2nd round is on, new blood.....

EDIT: Oh yeah, hope Blue Jackets smoke Boston!!!

Place is a dump and no one wants to go out there

And for this “Hurricanes fan” by default since born and raised North Carolinian
Much rather go to Brooklyn for a game . Park Slope is far greater pre and post game

Although the arenas view points suck, whatever

I agree that if the Stars win it Bishop will win the Conn Smythe. I just don't think they have the scoring after the top line to get there. Hard to win four seven game series depending on one line. Capitals don't win last year without Smith-Pelle and Berehowsky putting pucks in the net.

Sharks and Blues are the more balanced teams scoring wise in that conference though I'm not sure what the Sharks are going to have in the tank versus Colorado. I remember last year how much Nashville took out of Winnipeg. Winnipeg won the battle but they lost too much in it to win the war and Vegas pretty much coasted in the next round. The Sharks may be in the same boat now. For that matter they may be sharing that boat with Carolina.

Sharks v Bruins is my prediction now with Bruins winning it all unfortunately. Unless Pavelski misses a significant amount of time. Avs have a good chance now that the west is open. I'd argue the west is more wide open than the East - Boston should be significant favorites out there even after 7 games. Would love an Avs-Stars WCF to relive the late 90s/early 00s.

I would love for Avalanche v CBJ haha.
