Wikipedia is a wiki. It should never be cited as a credible source

I know. Which is why I referenced both my sources. ESPN is extremely reliable, but they have been wrong before.
Regardless, his pro career isn't working out and he is looking for money. Lost whatever respect I had for him.

How many times have we all had a legit claim to sue, but chalked it up to being an unfortunate accident?

He's reaching for all that money SC made off him now that his NFL career seems done.

Sidenote: It amuses me when SEC fans refer to Southern Cal as "USCw". To the rest of the country, there is only one "USC" - and it isn't in south carolina.

sounds like he was using a false grip (thumbs not wrapped around the bar). The bar can jump out of your hand if you are not careful. Poor decision on his part

alot of people do it. I do it because it helps keep your wrist straight when benching and helps with the bar path, but i know it comes with a risk. If the strength coach instructed him to do this then he may have put some liability on himself.

risky coaching + iffy spotting is a liability issue for sure. either alone wouldn't be horrible, but together you run the risk of a SJ situation

This will never see a courtroom.
It will be settled.

This board is pretty SEC focused, so it's not surprising to see such a distinction made. I get your point though, there is only USC and then you have South Carolina.

I'm pretty sure 98% of us would do the same. I think he's got good ground for a suit as well.

surprised SC did not settle to avoid publicity. The facilities are among the worst in college football
Did they ever say exactly what happened?

This would be the main way he'd have a legit case, imo. Instructed to use an "unsafe" grip without someone there all the time to keep something like this from happening.

I think it's USC's and all university's obligation to provide their facilities with enough supervision for the athletes training. I'm not sure if its in a rule book or what but I've heard there was like only one trainer or whatever in there.

What the suit alleges is that a strength coach was there and spotting. The suit said the spotter got distracted and bumped the bar. Of course a suit is not always the truth, but if there was a coach/spotter, he probably has a case. ALso, I heard his attorney tried to settle a while back prior to filing and USC brushed them off.
BTW, the caoch is at Seattle now, but I forgot the name.

just saw his press conference clips, amazing that they got him eligible for college. He announced he was suing the "University of South California" then went on to use a bunch of actual words for the next 2 minutes, none of which joined together to make any understandable sentences.
