Tough shite. Teams form their rosters with the intent to win, not entertain fans, especially opposing fans.

lets say Pop does this for a Bobcats game

He wouldn't give away a free win. Stern didn't have a problem when the Spurs and others did it in the past, why now? I think Pop sat the guys as a frick you to the league for putting this game on the end of a 4 of 5 for them while the Heat were rested. So Stern responded with a frick you of his own.

Seems to me that from now on, one player will have the flu, one will have back spasms, one will have tennis elbow, and one will have migraines all on that particular day.

WTF that's crazy. Stern is worse than Goodell. It's the coaches decision.

David Stern fined the Spurs $250,000 for not playing any star players last night... I wonder if he's going to fine the Bobcats too.

Still shouldn't do it in the middle of the season for a prime time game when no other NBA gamesare being played. It's bad form.

Stern's fine was a deterrent against future teams doing this.

The results of the game should have no bearing on Stern's decision.

Stern is just pissed that the Spurs are old and good.

Tim Duncan doesn't sell jerseys

I get the NBA and protecting its advertisers and the ratings of TNT and that primtime slot......BUT....WHAT IF RAY DOESN'T HIT THE 3 AND SPURS WIN....whats the fine for??? I mean what sets the precedent of who is and who isn't valuable to the team's success....maybe pop knew something about Miami and how they'd play down if the Spurs were not at full strength and it worked! I would have loved the trainwreck to ensue if spurs won and were fined

Results shouldn't affect the decision. Last year the Spurs rested all their guys against Portland and lost by 40. Stern doesn't want teams to rest their starters in national televised games in the middle of the season. So he took steps to make sure it wouldn't happen again.

The Spurs easily could have rested the players for the Orlando game the night before, but they didn't. At the end of the day, the NBA is an entertainment league that's driven by stars and superstars.

People don't watch the NBA for close games as much as they watch for star power. Hence, the decision by Stern.

That makes it more difficult for them to go at least 1-1 in those two games though. Pop doesn't care about national TV games and he shouldn't have to.

Thats my biggest problem with the situation, you have to do something... It's too close to game fixing not to

A basketball game was played with 24 professional basketball players on the court playing hard. Spurs almost won in fact

I dont see the problem or the game fixing

You can't look at it with hindsight like that..

The fact is he didn't try to win the game

How? Did he sit on the ball with 2 minutes to play? Did he tell his players that they shouldnt win?

You cant tell me they didnt try to win the game
