I dont remember much about him, only that he was the only weapon on that team, even as a youngster.
i think he ran track as well, and was pretty successful. He was more of a speed back. Dont know if he has put on weight

Listed on the recruiting story that he's 5'10" 212. ...and they need more of a power back to accompany the two speed backs we already have. So we'll see. I hope he pans out like the coaches plan.

Let's go Colonels, I'm planning on making trips up to Lake Charles and Natchitoches to watch them play this year. Last year started out great with the win over Rice, hopefully we can hold our own when we play Memphis.

4.17 is legit. I heard the same from multiple sources. QL was clocked last year around that same time. This year he is even stronger and his hands are coming around from what I hear.
Basically we are loaded on offense with Lawrence, Friddle, and Whitehead at receiver. Throw in Wes Mangham at TE as well. Running back will be solid and I would like to see Jones or Penland take the leading role. If are o-line stays healthy then it will be one of the best in the league. Then you have Derrick Fourroux and we know what he can do.
Defensively we get back Jamelle Juneau at safety who missed last year but was a pre-season all-american pick before he was dismissed. My only worry are the young DB's.

...and the DE's

I think Ellison will be big at DE for us this year.

that's world class speed. I'm still skeptical. Sorry.

You have no clue. The only clue you have is that he played at Catholic. Sort of biased. But nice try.
Started a whole bunch of games as a true freshmen though

Maybe the wind was at his back and it was on a track

IF, he did it, and it wasn't a 38 1/2 yard dash, then this could be a legit reason.

I don't know. He's getting punked in practice pretty often.

He's also going up against the best in the conference. (possibly)

True, but if you're scared of contact; you're scared on contact. It doesn't matter. Again, my source is my brother and he loves to talk smack to the D line guys. He doesn't do it much in the games, but he loves to get after his guys in practice. He keeps practice from seeming to be to much like, well, practice.

How is Bomar coming along at Sam Houston St.?

Do have any insight on the d-line?

Well these guys still have summer and fall workouts to get were they need to be. During Spring, the DEs were getting toasted but they were going up against one of the more veteran lines in the conference (and as prom noted, maybe the best one). They also didn't have much experience.
The scheme this year will be much different then you've seen the last couple years. Last two years, there wasn't much blitzing largely because of Brian Smith. They ran a very basic D with simple assignments. Key Brian Smith's departure and a new D coordinator and LB coach and lots of adjustments have been made. You will see blitzing from everywhere this year. The coordinator WILL pressure the QB. The LB coach studied under Saban so look for the those guys to play some better ball too. The DEs will be servicible but are the weakest area on the D for sure. Prom, feel free to add anything.

Thanks. Good to hear these changes. We need to pick up the pressure. Usually throughout the season my only worry comes from stopping the quick pass attack that we seem to struggle with like we saw in the playoffs last year and previously against Southeastern
