… or lying about who called the play.

“We should have taken the knee. I’m not going to make an excuse for it. I should have stepped in and said, ‘Hey, take a knee.’”

If that was called from upstairs he should’ve overruled it the millisecond it came over the headset. He’s the head coach, it’s on him.

Considering this happened once already to Cristobal when he was at Oregon I'm going to go ahead and guess that this was his call and he's trying to deflect.

Wouldn’t be surprised.

No way he gets that locker room back. Saw a video of a weeping player on the sideline asking “What the F are we doing?”

He's so full of shite because it wasn't just the last play. They ran the ball on the play before when they should have taken a knee. Two knees and the game's over.

He gave some bs answer about needing to get the first down until the reporters kept after him and made him admit he should've kneeled.

It was 100% his call. He’s deflecting now because everyone is pointing out how fricking stupid it was.

He was making terrible decisions the entire drive and the announcer was rightly calling him out on it. They were breaking the huddle and getting into their stances with 20 seconds left on the play clock then snapping it with 6-8 seconds to go. Probably gave up 25 seconds on that drive before the fumble even happened. It's absolutely baffling.

The QB could have just vetoed the call and kneeled himself. Or even the running back just fall on the ground as soon as he got the ball. Lack of football IQ in the huddle is part of the problem too.

Miami had the lead and the ball. Ga Tech ran out of TO's and there was so little time on the clock that Miami could have taken a knee on 2nd and 3rd downs, and ran out the clock. Instead they ran the ball. On 3rd down, fumble. Ga Tech gets the ball with about 60 yards or so from the end zone and like 20 seconds left, something like that. First play they get about 15 yards. Next play, TD with like 1 second left. Ballgame GT wins.

Is there any reason the players can’t just intervene and think for themselves when coaches pull retarded ideas like this? There is nothing stopping the qb or rb from taking the ball and kneeling or diving on the ground as soon as they get the ball.

I’m sure the coaches would absolutely love that.

Yeah the famous Giants-Eagles fumble in the NFL in 1978 … and I know it’s apples and oranges … Larry Csonka had begged the QB not to hand it off but to take a knee, even threatened not to take the handoff, but the coach had told the QB he would be cut if he ever changed another play regardless of the circumstances.

It's his job as HC to make those decisions. It begins and ends with him period. Only a loser pussy would try to blame someone for that. Be a man and admit you screwed up. Period. Take the blame because it is your fault. Dude will never win anything.
