thats why i said Lebron back then might not work to well
Less defense, less zones, and he is better than any player in our generation at absorbing contact and finishing at the rim.

How much more unstoppable would Lebron have been playing in the 80s where he didn't have to worry about teams basically going to a box and one every time he touches the ball?
if he could handle getting the shite fouled out of him everytime and not let it effect his game he would just dunk everytime.

in the grand scheme of things the league was better in the MJ era
And who has said different? But the best teams now are still really good. Let's be honest does anyone think bird could D up Lebron? Hell no. And to respond to age thing, you are right I probably seriously started watching basketball in 2001-2002. But the fact that you talk about things in such absolutes is mind boggling. How can you prove that these teams in the past were so much better? You can't. The Lebron haters just make Assumptions up as they go. Just because someone defends Lebron does not mean we think he is the goat, but damn the kid is 27, give him a chance! If this message board was here in 91 you would have people saying the same shite about MJ. HOW OLD ARE YOU??1?1?1?1? Jordan will never be as good as magic etc etc. Just give it up, Lebron is a good player and person that gets cast as a villain because he was sick of playing in fricking Cleveland and losing.

He is built more for that era.
Durant would struggle. He plays too light for his height.
Durant would struggle. He plays too light for his height.

Just watching you can see how he is better than anyone else at drawing contact and finishing.

Oh, MJ would have gotten destroyed!

i agree
but Lebron still flops around when he is hardly touched and most of the fouls called when he takes it to the hoop or when someone is guarding him would not be called. Teams like Detriot would make him think twice about going to the rim.

lots of those would not be called fouls back then
physcially he was perfect for the 80's and 90's but his flopping and bitching about calls would have got him no where like today

That's because he has adapted to the game. You don't think MJ would do the same thing if he could get a foul called every time?

Lebron may one day surpass Michael in most of the statistically categories but he's climbing an uphill battle in terms of ever matching the mystique of Michael Jordan. Jordan is bigger than the game and he came right at a time of mass globalization and branding.
And LeBron is dealing with A LOT more pressure than Jordan because of the 24 hour news cycle, social media, etc.
If all of that had been around during Jordan's career, he would have been forced out of the game by the commissioner...
As someone else said: What's wrong with just sitting back and enjoying the ride and waiting to make an evaluation about who is the GOAT AFTER it's all said and done?

All players flop, because contact is bad now.
It isn't like he does it alot, or even as often as the average player. LBJ is a pretty tough dude.
quote:Whoa.
most of the fouls called when he takes it to the hoop or when someone is guarding him would not be called.
His fouls going to the hole would stay about the same.
MJ got those exact same calls.
Keep in mind that, under old rules, teams would have to try to guard James with one guy.
Hate the guy all you want, but that is a recipe for huge numbers for LBJ.

He absolutely would.

All I know is in 7 seasons he was an MVP world champion.. Lebron took a team change and 9 seasons. Does not equal.
Jordan didn't change teams because the Bulls management signed him long term ASAP and built a solid team around him.

Jordan was his first finals.. Lebron lost 2 of 3. WEAK shite.
Getting to the finals, especially when it's LeBron plus some hot garbage for one of them, is not weak shite.

MJ got those calls later on b/c he used to get his arse handed to them

It reminds me of pre-NBA Finals where so many posters here were saying Durant was the better "close" because he never choked like Lebron did in the Finals.

o MJ def got calls later on in his career but he def earned them from the beating fouls he took esp in the 80's
I actually watched Jordan play in the 80s. Did you?
