Flynn is not starting because Carroll hates LSU, he is not starting because Wilson is better than he is. This is why we have training camp. A Carroll hating LSU theory is batshit crazy.

Hey. frick you. How can you be certain Flynn wouldn't be even better than Wilson. Its obvious Carroll still hates lsu and wouldnt give Flynn a chance from the start. His uppers made him sign Flynn.

I guess I don't understand if they liked Wilson why they spent so much money for flynn....I guess they may 1. not have known they could get him (they def could have gotten him in the 2nd if they believed in him) or 2. they didn't think he'd be this good this fast

They signed Flynn before the draft, no promise they would have a shot at Wilson as they didn't know if he would be available, and like you said they didn't know he would be this good right off the bat. Dude is poised and accurate

Well they took him in the 3rd correct? They had to think he'd be around in the 2nd since he never got that grade from anyone...

But still, spending that much on Flynn who hasn't proven sh*t at this level really is funny too

This entire thread is the definition of hindsight being 20-20 knowing damn well not a single person prior to the season expected Wilson to be the starting QB

Nope. Plenty were saying that he should and would start prior to the season. That's what the comments being quoted were addressing. Wilson played well in practice and preseason and there were rumors that Carroll planned to start him. Even on draft day I recall Gruden saying something about Wilson would start if Carroll gave him a chance.

No, I did at one point say that about Coleman (opposite hand, I thought he was a lefty for some reason)

This is clearly the more "risky" decision in this whole scenario.

Why do people think Matt Flynn will be a great nfl qb?

The best was the mental capabilities of Wilson. TDawg and I had a field day in that thread. It was before and during the KC Preseason game.

They didn't spend that much on Flynn. Certainly nothing that was going to cripple their cap space if he didn't work out. I think it will only cost them $2 million to cut him.
