the giants were 57-33 heading into the all star break last year. since then they have gone 57-94

think about this season for the mets. they have been a laughing stock. their mascot was fired this year for doing this

and they just swept the giants in san francisco by a combined score of 24-8

they entered the year with legit expectations. their odds at making the playoffs to start the year were 66.8% and now they are .2%

they lost their superstar player due to a dirt bike injury and their "second ace" is having one of the worst seasons of his career. the closer they brought in to fix their bullpen issues from last year? well....

their pitching has been mediocre but the offense has just been.... they have a team wOBA of .290, wRC+ of 87, and ISO of .131 sooooo yea.

ill let grant brisbee some it up
quote:

In the eighth inning of Sunday’s ballgame, as the Giants were in the middle of getting swept at home by the Mets, who have been allergic to winning and good fortune this year, fans started booing Josh Osich*. Except the fans weren’t really booing the left-handed reliever on the mound. They were booing it all. The events on the field. The loss of a Sunday afternoon. The broken promises. The ashes of burned expectations. The miserable future, unspeakably bare in the shadow of the recent past. They were booing the Giants as a concept, not a specific pitcher. Because the Giants right now are a cataclysmic failure on a level that we haven’t seen for 100 years. And they were supposed to be good.
quote:

The 2017 Giants are bad. They’re historically bad. They’re five games behind the Padres, who started the season with a rotation of Jered Weaver, Scountly Fernst, Arbor Darlor, Jeff Suppan, and Umbadlo Jimenez, Not Umbaldo Jimenez, and a payroll that was sending more money to players who weren’t on the roster than players on it. The Giants, in other words, are sub-replacement. The Padres were almost literally a replacement-level team this year, by design, and the Giants are out-replacementing them. They were just swept by the Mets, at home, and the Mets have been one of the most miserable stories of the season. Not this miserable, though. Not this miserable.

is this one of the most insane sustained collapse a baseball franchise has had in recent memory?

Any word on if they gifted Bumgarner a stationary bike that sounds like a dirtbike?

At least when we did it, it wasn't that surprising. Would be kinda similar if the Padres were having that type of season

So bizarre the Giants have gone from yearly contender to this

Things that happened to the Giants from 2009 to present

3 World Series titles
2 division titles
4 playoff appearances

1 Cy Young winner

1 MVP

5 no hitters including a perfect game

They could go winless the rest of the season and I wouldn't feel bad for them. on top of that great stretch, they suck for one season and will end up with a #1 draft pick.

As a fan who endured the other side of Matt Cain's perfect game....frick the Giants. I'll laugh at them with you.

Yet every single fan of every single other franchise would trade their 2010-present for the Giants without thinking twice.

Meanwhile the Dodgers have not won a pennant in what is soon to be 30 years

meh

i would not trade what the dodgers have had since 2013 for what the giants have had

sure, it sucks that we havent won a pennant, but i would much rather have a team that is set up the way we are right now to contend for the future and the present than a team like the giants who are maybe a year or two away from having to make really difficult situations about what to do going forward

I would trade historically bad to have the Dodgers have the run the Giants had the last 6 years.

Look at the Giants core
Bumgarner 28
Posey 30
Belt 29
Panik 26
Crawford 30
I do not think Crawford will have another horrible year next year.
I say the core has 2 to 3 more years of playing together
Belt is one of the most under appreciated players in baseball
The Giants need a overhaul of their farm system
They have produced talent but no where close to the Dodgers the last 2 to 3 years

they have two more years

we are having a completely different conversation if they just didnt randomly waste years like 2011, 2013, and 2015

Well that statement doesn't make much sense. At least get to the World Series before talking shite. Kershaw playoff numbers are kind of shaky no?
