I'm pretty sure that's not what is happening here

He's becoming the first athlete to be represented by the same company that represents Kendrick Lamar

Ricky Williams's mistake was signing an incentive laden type of deal with his first contract when they were giving away huge deals to rookies. No one would make that type of mistake today.

Don't really think this is a big deal. There isn't a lot of wiggle room anyway with the rookie scale contracts.

Pretty sure you actually have to have a law degree or something to that effect to be an agent in the NFL. Celebrities may float the capital to start an agency, but the actual agents are attorneys.

Doesn’t that just mean that the “company” representing him fronts him cash that he has to pay back after receiving a contract? Then recieves a portion of future contracts?
He’s been riding around a Bentley all week that he seems pretty damn proud of, enough to make me think it’s not a rental.

It’s not like any of these famous rappers will actually be meeting with the suits to negotiate

I don't even think you need an undergraduate degree actually. The NFLPA site states you may be granted a waiver to sit for their certification exam if you have 7 years of "negotiating experience."

nope. In fact, Jimmy Sexton is not an attorney and while he is known for his representation of college coaches, his agency represents 150+ NFL player clients. Jimmy's first client was actually Reggie White. A law degree is definitely helpful when it comes to negotiating a contract but it is not a prerequisite
