We all know the US won’t take over Canada. But the entire point Trump is making is that these countries who exist because of the US taxpayer better treat us in a fair way. Just because we’ve been footing the bill for defense and every multi-national organization since the end of WWII and haven’t asked for anything in return doesn’t mean they can take advantage. They are now understanding this. Canada has a very minimal defense and can spend those dollars elsewhere because they have known we have their backs. They and Europe are just now realizing we may not always have their back and they are realizing how vulnerable they are without us. And all we ask is they pay their fair share and treat us like they should in trade.
