"Like they were originally"? They were originally SLI ( Southwestern La. Institute ), then USL ( University of Southwestern University ), and now ULLLLLLL.And as well Bulldogs, Chili Peppers, Ragin Cajuns. But, seriously, to their credit, they were the first university in La. to recruit & have a black player on their team, under Beryl Shipley.

I heard someone discussing the fact that we got violations and eventually the death penalty in the early 70’s because Shipley did that. Not sure if this had anything to do with it or not. Just found it interesting that they decided to go after USL.

Yes, they should.

If the B12 expands though, it’s probably the four (if not whatever else remains)

Louisiana can only have one P5 school. LSU says so and they make the rules in this state. That seems to be the consensus. LSU doesn’t have to go by it’s official name (LSU A&M) but everyone else does because you are not worthy. State law says so!

USL got the death penalty because, under Shipley, they had 120 major violations, at the time, and mabe still, the most violations in the history of the NCAA. Too, USL filed & got an injunction allowing them to play in the tournament while the injunction was being heard in court. This was a big reason why they got the death penalty. They were guilty as hell, they knew it & still filed for an injunction, basically a "frick you, NCAA." 293-126 was his record & the fact that he integrated La. basketball, the hate that generated kept him out of the La. HOF till 2014.

No doubt the violations were real, but reality is most likely the integration and fu to the gulf states conference who said we couldn’t integrate was the reason they brought the hammer down.

Now give me an example of a school that came into a Power Conference from a Non-Power Conference (ACC/C-USA/MW) and didn’t do well?

Rutgers
West Virginia has struggled in the Big 12 as well.

Am no big fan of the techsters but you have to respect their athletic history .

Very underated cult like student base as well.

Could have been the Louisiana version of Aggie if a few things broke their way 20/30 years ago

Must be difficult times for the crawfish mafia considering how much money ULL has lost recently

You are being dishonest to yourself, if you believe that ULL wouldn’t trade all their NCAA tournament 0-1 appearances in the last 15 years and their New Orleans Bowls for a single NY6 Bowl Victory against a P5 Heisman Trophy winner.

Possibly. But that doesn’t merit justification for moving up in conferences if it meant being bad to average in everything else for the last 15 years.

Oh La La has a few winning seasons and new Orleans bowl wins and suddenly they're a hot commodity.

What?

WVU has been good in all sports in the Big 12

The last four years football has been average bc Neal Brown is a shitty coach

But WVU hasn’t struggled. Basketball has been good and baseball has got way better
