La Tech is much better D1 program than the UL twins and I hope Tulane can get an on campus stadium.

not over the past 8 years... how do you not make a bowl game in that period?

however if tulane ever decides they want to win, they have some advantages in CUSA

Tulane should drop Bob Toledo and Rick Dickson.

The Green Wave just need to admit that they hired two bad head football coaches in a row. It doesn't mean you should shut down the program. You just go for someone else.

It was just twelve years ago that the Green Wave football program finished in the top ten. If Northwestern can get bowl eligible in the Big Ten, there is no reason that Tulane can't do the same year in and year out in C-USA.

They should have hired Rodriguez over Scelfo but he wasn't a bad coach and probably would have gotten them to a bowl game in 05 if not for Katrina.

Well, Im talking more about right now. There are atleast 30 teams worse off than Tulane.
Also it could always be worse It's been almost 50 years since New Mexico St. made a bowl game. Why isnt there anyone asking for them to drop football?

The year after the Hawaii Bowl appearance they had an athletic review on whether or not to go D3. I'm sure that was terrible for recruiting. Add on to that a Hurricane and then a bad hire and it's not that tough to see how this happened.

yes

they lose money constantly on the sport and there's no point in pretending they are going to morph into a major player

Drop down to a lower league and enjoy playing other schools with more similar mission statements

Hate to break it to you, but it ain't happening. And you realize all those things you mentioned apply to a good number of teams right?
Also as I've mentioned before going D3 in football only is likely not an option

it probably won't happen because a certain number of tulane boosters and administrators are against it or refuse to reveal publicly how much money they lose

and yes, many schools should consider dropping to a lower level of competition - anyone losing money at a high rate with no hope of becoming a major football program IMO

This, as should ULL and ULM. All three would be competetitive in the FCS.

My grandfather graduated Tulane in '39 and always watched Tulane football. I remember the year after he passed away LSU crushed Tulane and my grandmother commented,"I don't even know why they still play football, they aren't good anymore." Thought that was funny from a 90 year old woman.

Tulane has alot of wealthy powerful Alums who need to step up and finance a competitive program. thats what it gonna take. And i agree with the Near campus smaller stadium being built. And possibly joining a conference like the one ULL is in. And i dont mean finance illegally.

The answer is no, of course.

As bad as Tulane is in football, we have won two bowl games in the past 12 years. This is two more bowl victories than ULL and ULM.

Tulane averages about 4 wins/year, which is poor but not completely awful. And if you give me 10 minutes, I'll name 35 FBS programs that have struggled for decades.
