Top 6 teams get in. No division guaranteed a spot

Pathetic that a 7-9 NFC East team will host a playoff game against a good 49ers or Seattle team.

Division should guarantee a spot. Not a home playoff game

this is what i desperately want to happen just for the WTF factor

hell i was even hoping it was worse and they could win the division at 6-10

I mean it's happened before.
SO this wouldn't be a first.

This. You win your division you make the playoffs. Seeding is based off record.

So as of right now under this plan it would be in the NFC

1. 49ers
2. Packers (Wins tie break over New Orleans based on best win percentage in conference games.)
3. Saints
4. Seattle
5. Vikings
6. Cowboys

AFC
1. Ravens
2. NE
3. Chiefs
4. Bills
5. Texans
6. Steelers

No. Winning your division should count for something. I know that Dallas or Philly aren't that good, but whoever wins will have taken care of business in their division.

It would be karma if Seattle had to play a losing team at home.

But I prefer Seattle win the division so we have the head to head.

No. This happens once a few blue moons.

The NFL playoff system beats any other.

Because what's going to happen when a team goes 10-6, beating everyone EXCEPT their division opponents, & there are other 10-6 or 11-5 teams who beat up on the Browns/Dolphins/Redskins but scrape by their IN division games? You're going to have a similar parallel argument to want to change the system.

Division based playoffs works. It puts a bigger emphasis on division games.

Absolutely. A shitty 7-9 team shouldn't get in just because they were the best of the other shitty teams in their division. It should be the best 6 teams in the conference.

why do people dismiss stuff like that? Pro sports are a business, fans like the historic rivalries so yes that's is important. Certainly not worth getting rid of because every once in a while some bad team gets a home playoff game

Or they pull a Raiders from several years back and go 6-0 in division but are left out of the playoffs.
