Remember that series like it was yesterday

Through the Lakers title run in early 2000s. 2000 Blazers were the most challenging

Gotta be the Sacramento Kings. That series was epic.

What about the Kings? They only beat them due to actual rigged officiating

Let me be clear, the NBA didn’t rig it, but the officials were on the take with gambling in that series

Kobe with the epic game 7 save.

Who are we to argue with them but I personally think the kings gave them the bigger scare. The Lakers faced elimination 1 time in that series in the game 7. At one point they were up 3-1.

That kings series was more back and fourth and they had to win the last two games the last one being on the road.

That Blazers team was legit. Would have been awesome to see Scottie win another ring post-MJ.

They hated the kings because of their pace and style, blazers were more of a similar style especially with Sabonis.

Blazers had them. Up 15 in the 4th. Great team with Sheed, Stoudamire, Schrempf, Pippen, Sabonis, Grant and I think Augmon and Kemp. They were loaded.

Some of the quotes in here are kind of head scratchers

quote:

“It’s probably the best team I’ve ever faced playing basketball, period,” says Robert Horry

Horry won 7 Finals but the 2000 Blazers were the best team he ever played in his entire life?

quote:

“They were the toughest team,” Shaq says, “and they were the only team that wasn’t scared of us.

I think they’re not bringing up the Kings because of the obligatory ref rigging responses they’d get and because they hated those frickers so much they don’t want to give them credit.

They were down 15 to the Blazers deep into the second half of game 7.

Yea I was watching it, they were also up 3-1 in the series before almost choking it away.

Meanwhile in the 02 WCF vs the Kings the last 4 games all went to the last seconds with game 7 being won in OT on the road. The Kings go up 3-1 if Horry doesn’t hit the game winner in game 4. Then the refs gave LA 27 free throws in the 4th qtr alone of game 6.

For those of us watching it certainly seemed the Kings were a bigger test, as that was an all-time series. But they played in it, they can say what they want.

I still remember Pippen dribbling the ball across the center of the court at the start of the 4th quarter and the score being 71-58 Blazers.

The Spurs bookended that Laker dynasty. They swept LA and closed down the Forum in ‘99, and then won the second round in ‘03.

You would assume this is the correct answer

I think when they say best team, they really mean best collection of overall talent when they refer to the 2000 Blazers.

Nope.

That Blazers team was legit. So sad my boy Sheed couldn't hit his spot.

Really shows you how tough the Western Conference was in the early 2000's. And how if you got out of the West, it was pretty much a sweep in the Finals.

Lakers won 3 titles and in those 3 NBA Finals they won 12 games of course and only lost 3.

Eastern Conference was dogshite compared to the Spurs, the Trailblazers, the Kings and the 3-peat Champ Lakers.
