This makes no sense at all. You want to trade your best asset fine, but to do it in secrecy and without the chance of opening up bidding to the rest of the league is a fireable offense. You got a decent piece in an aging, fragile AD and a 2029 1st round pick, but you could have gotten so much more. This is simply crazy and Dallas fans need to be outside the GM’s office tomorrow demanding answers.

Clearly a pivot by the Lakers. They are moving to a new era.
They got a 25 year old MVP for very little.
The rest will work itself out eventually for them. It always does “somehow”.
If youve got “the” player in the nba the rest doesn’t matter.

Luka is a better version of Lebron so how tf are they going to work together with no bigs lol
Trade makes no sense all the way around outside of it being some kind of NBA *ratings conspiracy*

What a trainwreck the Lakers are

Luka in New Orleans is not as lucrative as Luka in LA. Once you understand that you'll understand the last 20 years of NBA basketball.
This meme has largely died out. AD go LAL was the last one, and that was Lebron tampering, and LAL got bent over in the deal and started a whole new level of valuation by the NBA.
Lillard is not in MIA. He got sent to a small market.
Butler is stuck in MIA.
San Antonio got Wemby, and now a top-20 guy is demanding to go to SA.

It’s acknowledged by every media member I’ve seen that this wasn’t a win now move and the lakers will be significantly worse this season without AD and Christie.
This was about the post LeBron era.
And the Lakers look to suck for a few seasons due to all the win-now stuff Lebron forced.
And their core trio other than Lebron is the literal Great White Hope All Stars

Yeah the general read I have on the reaction is
1. People are HIGHLY underrating Anthony Davis
2. People are overrating the Lakers current situation

What y'all need is a long 2/3 who can get his shot off and loves the midrange, who was drafted by LAL and can get you 25-5-5 when Wemby needs a rest

The Mavericks were motivated to move Doncic because of his constant conditioning concerns, sources told MacMahon. There had been significant frustration within the organization about Doncic's lack of discipline regarding his diet and conditioning, which team sources considered a major factor in his injury issues.
Though Doncic was relatively svelte by his standards when he reported to camp, his weight ballooned to the high 260s early this season, sources said. He sat out five games in late November, when the Mavericks listed him with a sprained right wrist, an extended absence to allow Doncic to focus on his conditioning. He had a similar early-season layoff in the 2022-23 season.
Doncic has been limited to 22 games this season because of a variety of injuries. He has twice strained his left calf since reporting to Dallas before training camp in late September, although the Mavericks reported the fall injury only as a calf contusion, sources said.
Oh a player being fat and the team being frustrated? Wouldn’t know anything about how that is. Probably should trade that player for jackshit

Luka to LAL is huge for the Lakers in the future. Makes no sense in the present. Their defense will go to absolute shite now.
Luka was just playing in the nba finals with this mavs team. He must have told front office he wanted out?
This is so weird

If we were healthy and traded Zion for AD, we'd be title contenders

Lillard is not in MIA. He got sent to a small market. Neither of those guys started at the top like Luka. Butler wasn't even an all-star until his 4th season after being a late 1st round pick. Not at all your prototypical Lakers star.
Butler is stuck in MIA.
San Antonio got Wemby, and now a top-20 guy is demanding to go to SA.
Lillard and Butler do not have the same appeal as Luka.
Wemby is still early.
Once upon a time Kawhi Leonard was on the Spurs and ended up where....?
Zion Williamson is on the Pelicans and will be where....?
Of course it's more lucrative for star players to end up in LA.
American professional sports leagues, namely baseball and basketball, would love the European soccer league competitive gap with the same 3-4 teams dominating every year.
They even glorify and constantly praise the eras where the big market teams dominated the landscape for a good period of time.
