Brady Anderson produced in 1996...doesn't mean he is better than Griffey Jr.

Still would take Nash and Kidd
Terrible comparison, considering Paul has played extremely well the rest of his career, unlike Brady Anderson.

Not to mention his peak year still wasn't as good as Griffey's peak years lol.

Paul also had a very similar year the season before, and multiple elite level seasons.

While I agree that CP3 is underrated in a way, you cant base someones all-time credibility off of a 2 year span

Agreed...This is what I'm trying to say. Do I think Paul is good, absolutely, but to say he is legitimate top 2 PG in history is crazy.

He has the 3 best PERs of all time for point guards.

It's not like he had 2 good seasons and a bunch of average seasons.

it's no different than basing someone's prime seasons as usually their late 20s. But for Paul, if he never regains the explosiveness like he used to have pre-injury, his peak will be early 20s. IT's the same thing.

He's an all time great PG based on his entire career. Hís peak was 2nd best PG of all time kind of great.

I don't think that's possible. At all.

I think that people underrate James's defense.

As awesome as Chris Paul is, I think his height is definitely a disadvantage in this game...that's why I'd have Lebron start at PG (to go against Magic).

Truth. You start James at PG to match up with Magic, and bring in Paul to guard Stockton when that substitution comes in.

What about Jerry West? The guy is the NBA logo!

Dont see how you could leave West or Oscar Roberston off.

I think 2 wins as well but the teams are a little off as for eras. "Big Game" James Worthy also probably be somewheres on one of these teams especially team 2 running with Magic.

Depends. If that two year span ends up being Chris Paul "at his peak," then you can base it off of that time frame. Because the OP says to compare the players at their peak ("in their prime").

I don't underrate it...he plays great D. But I also know that Bird is one of the best players to ever touch a basketball. Larry Bird isn't the kind of player that someone, no matter how good on D they are, can just "shut down." And we're also talking about Bird in his prime, not Bird when he was laying on the sideline resting his back when he was on the bench.

I can. Obviously Paul is faster, but Magic is long and fast in his own right. I think he could keep up with CP3 enough (key word).

FWIW, I'm not saying that Paul would just be irrelevant in the game or not matter. He would do well. I just think his height is a little much of a disadvantage in this game. And moreso on defense than on offense.

Also, I didn't look up the numbers, but just glancing at the players, it seems like Team two would have the edge in FT shooting (with starters...team 1 has the better bench).

this.

shaq, mailman, dream and kg not to mention rodman on the glass is a lot to be reckoned with in the paint. team 2 has talent there but not as much power.

Team 1 has a glaring hole in the reserve PG spot

That's why you start Lebron at the 1, and have CP3 on the bench.

I didn't think this could possibly be correct when I first read it, but it is. It's pretty surprising, at least IMHO, that Magic never had a PER over 27. Maybe Lebron's insane PERs have skewed my perspective

Team 2 because Magic would abuse CP3.

Maybe put Deron Williams as Team 1's PG and it would be a little closer (I don't think that Deron is better than CP3 but it's just that it's a horrendous matchup in this instance).
