Serious question: Why is Texas A&M ranked in the top 25?

Their best win is vs a garbage Arkansas team and they struggled to beat them. As a 2 loss team this early in the season you would think that would drop them out of the top 25.

So that Alabama can play a ranked team.

It’s just a guess but it’s the best thing I can come up with

Because voters are stupid and reluctant to admit their preseason rankings are mostly bullshite.

Because they won the superbowl last year.

in 7 overtimes, with 17 bad calls.

Because after 13 or so, the rankings are just a dart board

At this point in the season this is probably the most accurate take I’ve seen

The voters are reluctant to drop A&M like they should so that Clemson will have another top 25 win on the year.

Right. I mean every team in the 15-25 range would have lost the 2 games A&M lost likely. Do we think Baylor or Memphis would beat A&M on a neutral field? I would maybe have Minny up in the top 25 but I don't see much problem on them being in the 20-25 range

Because their losses are to Clemson on the toad and Auburn.

Who do you put ahead of them?

I don't know. We don't deserve to be ranked.

None of these coaches are sitting there thinking about this shite when doing their rankings. You guys overthink things.
And as the first poster said, the answer is because they were ranked in the preseason and their losses are to top ten teams.

This.

Which is why preseason rankings really shouldn't be a thing. Three to four games in would be a better picture, IMO.

Preseason rankings allow mediocre teams to hang around ranked for too long, and unranked teams to start the year get the shaft if they've played well.

Unless we go apeshit and lose in 2OT or something

Then we might stay at #25 I guess.

I'm just enjoying seeing SMU ranked higher.
