Also, I would like to take this space to remember the individuals we lost in the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl crash a little more than 7 years ago.

I hate to say it but mtl seems to have a defenceman or two with their shite together-or maybe it was total team defence last night-in either case watching them block shots and how Carey Price looked they may be hell to score against...

I used to know them all. Theodore Fleury was probably my favorite. He was good and I liked his name. Jeremy Roenick was another. I was pretty good at those games, I'd play full seasons and have a blast.

How are the Blues “moving backwards”? They have a top 5 minor league system, and upgraded a number of positions over the summer. Anyone could easily swap out the Sharks and Blues as a mirror image of the Capitals. Blues have watched the rival Red Wings and Blackhawks win multiple Stanley Cups in recent history. Blues have just as many tough playoff losses as the Sharks, so I’m not following you over your soft spot for the Sharks. The biggest benefit the Sharks have is not having to play in the rugged Central division. They get to beat up on the bottom feeder Canadian teams and Coyotes.

RIP. A real shame. Demitra was one of the best trades the Blues ever made.

Ah, I miss NHL ‘96. Roenick was one of the fastest players in the game. I could diagonally dump the puck in with a D, and Roenick would always be the first player to get the puck behind the net.

Don’t think this is anything besides giving Bob the home opener and avoiding playing him back to back.

Korpi outplayed Bob in the preseason though.

How are the Blues “moving backwards”?

Blues standing points by season:
2014: 111
2015: 109
2016: 106
2017: 99
2018: 94

I'd say they are moving backwards by finishing with a worse record every year for the past five years. The Blues are still a good team, but they seem further from winning a Cup than they did in 2014. In 2013-14, they had five 20-goal scorers, a terrifingly deep defense full of scoring threats and of their top 10 scorers, only one was even 30 years old. Both goalies were 28, too.

Last year, they were down to 3 20-goal scorers and f of their top 10 scorers were 30+. The defense is no longer as deep, though Pietrangelo is really good. Their backup goalie is 32 and their nominal starter had a terrible year with a Save percentage of 906, below the league average of 908.

They could win the Cup, but it would be a pretty big upset, especially with Nashville and Winnipeg out there, and the upgrades made in San Jose, not to mention Vegas.

But that’s a by product of the Central becoming much better than it was in 2014. Not because of a drop in talent. And while last year was a disappointment, the Blues still boast a top 5 minor league system in the game. Some of those guys will be impact players. Both Thomas and Kyrou already made the roster. Kyrou is already elevated to the 2nd line. So I expect that point total to eclipse 100 points again in the near future. The biggest question mark is Allen. But he was the biggest reason the team knocked the Wild out of the playoffs 2 years ago. Johnson is nothing more than a placeholder for Husso when he is ready. You just won the Stanley Cup with a goalie who had a below average 2.99 GAA and a .907 save percentage in the regular season. Which wasn’t any better than Allen. A year ago you would have said the same thing about Holtby that you’re saying now about Allen.

And the Sharks were a 111 point team in 2014. So I could just as easily say they have regressed as well if you’re going to put that much stock in point totals.
