Go Canes! I’m so ready to be disappointed but want to believe in a playoff spot. Either way, I’ll enjoy a bourbon and the games.

Tonight, the new season starts! The Caps raise the banner and officially begin their defense of the Stanley Cup. Let's drop the puck!

A 7-0 pasting of the Boston Bruins is a hell of an opening statement. Caps are beastly.

My LA Kings will have a better year, and I predict that the Kings will make the playoffs and challenge San Jose, VGK and Anaheim for the division title. The West is brutal, all of those teams got better, and VGK was already pretty badass.

Go Kings Go!

Ilya. Believe it. The dude can still play, and at a very high level. Kopi will get him the puck and he'll start racking up the points. Then the Carter line gets better, and everything starts clicking.

Sidenote: This Caps@Penguins game is out of control. Goals are falling out of the sky.

Let's go Jackets! Lines look deep with talent. Lets get a cup before Panarin leaves.

Small crowd in Detroit for an opener. I know they’re young, but what’s with all the empty seats?

I've never been to the new place, but I hear that it's similar to Mercedes Benz Stadium in that there's a lot of places to watch the game from. That could account for some of the empty seats, but it also may be a mixture of high ticket prices and one of the worst teams in the league.

CBJ observation: Duclair looking good. Wennberg looking lost.
