John Elway isn’t in charge of the Broncos football operations anymore. He is a mere consultant.

Compensation: Denver’s 2023 first-round pick and next year’s second-round pick for Sean Payton and the Saints’ 2024 third.

So they basically got a 1st round pick

I am floored Payton is actually going to hitch his wagon to 35 year old Russell Wilson and that albatross contract

Not to mention being in the same division as Mahomes and Herbert

His offense will work great in the cold on grass also

I've looked for and NOT found any glowing happiness from John Elway.
Well, considering he’s just a figurehead now, I doubt he’s going to show much emotion.

Contrary to popular belief, he’s not the GM anymore and doesn’t hold/want much power for team moves.

He made his impact and it was a great one.

Any chance him and Denver try to raw dog this year and next, potentially leading to an opening for Payton to leave after?

Why would Denver agree to that?

I don't think they would, but could see it for the opportunity to get their foot in the door with him and hope it works out later on. They would have him a minimum of two years.

Payton is "hitching his wagon" to Mr. Wal Mart, not Wilson. He was making $8M with the Saints, so........more than Belichick @ $18M ?

A late one at that. In a weaker draft than next year's will be.

I'd have taken Denver's option B which was their 1st next year and their 4th next year and kept the 3rd. At the very least we get an extra player on the cheap which this team needs with the salary situation, and having 2 1sts in next year's draft would have been great but no we went with the #29 pick in this year's weak draft and called it a day.

Seriously, frick Mickey Loomis.

Which is fantastic.

Awkward, but fantastic.

He’s a guy that likely wouldn’t go anywhere. Nobody will poach him to be their head coach.

We netted 1 pick in a weaker draft instead of netting 2 in a stronger draft including a potentially higher first rounder in said stronger draft in a time we're in need of younger, cheaper talent. Sorry that I don't agree with the decision that was made. Denver offered 2 options and Mickey picked the wrong one given the circumstances. Just my opinion.

The Saints got a first round pick and swapped a third for a second in exchange for a coach who was never going to do anything for them.

Ok? The 1st is #29 in a weak draft. We could have had a higher pick in next year's stronger draft which would give us 2 1sts in that draft. I just feel like that was the better way to go, especially since it nets us an extra pick overall which is another cheap contract for us.
